My God, what a terrible death....I've found myself being fired upon by a man with a semi-automatic rifle before as well, only my luck and fortune was better than yours. My deepest debt of gratitude go to you for your service and ultimate sacrifice in working with your brothers in arms. We'll continue to fight the hopeless fight, although that will be more difficult having lost you.....

My deepest thoughts go to your family, friends, and coworkers during this difficult time. Salute.

The family of Sargeant Prendes is in our thoughts and prayers. I have two brothers who are police officers in Utah and hearing this story reminded me of how truly dangerous and heroic the work of police officers and all those who keep the peace is. As the Bible says, "Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called the children of God." (Matt. 5:9) May he rest in peace and may his family find comfort in the Lord at this tragic and difficult time. God bless you.

I live in the neighborhood that Sgt. Prendes was killed in and I wanted to offer my condolences to his family. All the officers involved that day are heroes. Sergeant Prendes laid down his life for the safety of someone he never meant. His actions saved so many lives that day. This neighborhood is full of young children and I can only say thank you to the brave men and women who were there to protect them during this horrific act. My heart goes out to his wife, and children. My prayers are with your family.

Unfortunately many Police Chiefs (especially our own )see the use of an assault rifle for patrol officers as overrated. My thoughts and prayers go to this officer's family.
