Reflections for Police Officer Robin G. Vogel

Scholars say at the end of times
A War between good and evil will ensue
That is why the Almighty God
Takes the bravest of our brothers and sisters in blue.

TO: The family; loved ones; friends and department members: A POLICE OFFICER’S PRAYER:--- O, gentle Lord ! Keep the day/night watch with me. As I begin my tour of duty, I ask your protection from all mental, physical and spiritual harm. Sustain me with the knowledge that I am doing your work, endeavoring to keep peace among your people. Help me to be just as I enforce the law without prejudice or favor to anyone. May I be courageous but not reckless in carrying out my duties. Let me respond to all calls with haste realizing that so many are dependent upon me for life and safety. Support me with your consoling power when I am tempted to think no one really cares and that I am taken for granted. Sustain in me the conviction that so many thousands do care and are grateful for my presence. Grant that I may be loyal to my partner and my fellow officers, and that I may back them up effectively when called upon for assistance. Lord, I ask that I may return safely, after my tour of duty, to my loved ones and those who love me. I pray that I may be a good and honorable police officer; and after my tour of duty is over here on earth, may I enjoy the peace and happiness of heaven that you have promised to those who serve you well. AMEN. *** REST IN PEACE ***

Policeman's Prayer to St. Michael
St. Michael, Heaven's glorious Commissioner of Police, who once so neatly and successfully cleared God's premises of all its undesirables, look with kindly and professional eye on your earthly force.

Give us cool heads, stout hearts, hard punches, an uncanny flair for investigation and wise judgement.

Make us the terror of burglars, the friend of children and law-abiding citizens, kind to strangers, polite to bores, strict with law breakers and impervious to temptations.

You know, St. Michael, from your own experiences with the devil that the policeman's lot on earth is not always a happy one; but your sense of duty that so pleased God, your hard knocks that so suprised the devil, and your angelic self-control give us your inspiration.

And when we lay down our night sticks, enroll us in your Heavenly Force, where we will be as proud to guard the throne of God, as we have been the city of men. Amen.

Today, God shed a tear. I pray that tear was not of sadness in another soul lost but a tear of joy in that another of his fold joined him in a place reserved for those who believe. A place where there is no need for an officer to wear a gun. A place of beauty. A place of rest. I new not Officer Vogel but I pray that she was a believer and that she now celebrates in a place so beautiful the rest of us can’t even imagine. Officer Vogel’s death should serve as a reminder to us all we know not the date or time and, just like a good police officer, we should always be ready for whatever is just around the next corner.

To the family and fellow officers of Officer Vogel, I pray for God’s loving comfort in the days to come. We are never ready for the loss of a loved one, especially so with an unexpected death. May God bless you and keep you safely in His loving arms!

Dear Officer Vogel,

Although I have never had the opportunity to meet you, nor have we ever crossed paths, I would like to tell you thank you. It is obvious, by reading the numerous reflections left by your friends, co-workers, and loved ones, that you are a wonderful person, and a great Police Officer. I look forward to the day we meet. May God bless you with his presence and keep you safe in his Kingdom.

My husband has worked with you on 3rd shift for many years. Even though I have only meet you a few times, I feel like I know you because of all the wonderful things that he has said about you. Your dedication to the Decatur Police Department is an inspiration to everyone.
You sacrificed your life for a job that you loved. Even when times got tough, he told me that you would come to work with a smile on your face. I know that my husband and all the police officers on 3rd shift will miss you, and you will never be forgotten. May god bless you and your family.

Robin,
As we laid you to rest today, I reflected on all the good times we had together, not only on the job, but also outside the job at the Lincoln. You smile and good heartedness will be missed at both places. I feel blessed to be able to consider you my friend and to be considered by you to be a friend.
Unfortunately you did such a wonderful job protecting the streets on earth, God chose you to be one of the select to protect his streets in Heaven.
May your spirit live on forever, and shall you rest in peace.

IN YOUR MEMORY

Don't cry because you think I'm gone,
for I am with you still.
Don't seek reasons to explain
what is simply just God's will.

It's very hard to leave all of you
and everything I've known,
but my work on earth is done now.
Our Lord has called me home.

I know you will find comfort
Just let faith guide your way.
Cause, from the moment I was born,
I have been preparing for this day.

Remember me for the laughter,
that's the greatest gift we give.
Keep me in your heart and mind
because that's where I now live.

If ever you feel you need me,
you can close your eyes and see,
I'm still right here with you,
I'm alive in your memory.

Norristown Police, Pa.
