To the family, friends and co-workers my heart and prayers go out to you. We were in D.C. for the Police Memorial when Officer Pozell was hurt, we prayed for his recovery then, and now we pray for his family, friends and co-workers.

The only thing that helps me is knowing that Clint loved being a police officer, and I know that Joseph was the same way. We met so many of the D.C. police officers, who were all super. I know that Officer Pozell was among the finest, and now walks a beat with God's finest.
Michael Buschmohle wrote: When someone dies, nothing has changed...except one thing: That person is no longer outside us, the person now lives on in our memories, our minds, and in our hearts.
We just miss them so much, but the statement is so true, we just hold on to all the memories.

Officer Pozell, your family will miss you everyday, but we will never forget you.

Look Clint up for me tell him I miss and love him.

I spent 20 years with LAPD as a Reserve Officer. There are no words to express how much my heart aches for your devastating loss. Reserve officers are so very special. They have an unmatched level of dedication. This is a tragedy felt by all in law enforcement. My thoughts and prayers go out to Reserve Officer Pozell's family, friends, and to the Metropolitan Police Dept. Your loss is a loss to all of us. Officer Pozell, thank you so very much for your amazing dedication and service. Rest easy, by brother, we have the watch.

The policeman stood and faced God,
Which must always come to pass.
He hoped his shoes were shining,
Just as brightly as his brass.

"Step forward now, policeman.
How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To my church have you been true?"

The policeman squared his shoulders and said,
"No lord, I guess I ain't,
Because those of us who carry a badge
can't always be a saint."

I've had to work most Sundays,
and at times my talk was rough,
and sometimes I've been violent,
Because the streets are awfully tough.

But I never took a penny,
That wasn't mine to keep
Though I worked a lot of overtime
When the bills got just too steep.

And I never passed a cry for help,
Though at time I shook with fear.
And sometimes, God forgive me,
I've wept unmanly tears.

I know I don't deserve a place
Among the people here.
They never wanted me around
Except to calm their fear.

If you've a place for me here, Lord,
It needn't be so grand.
I never expected or had too much,
But if you don't I'll understand.

There was a silence all around the throne
Where the saints had often trod.
As the policeman waited quietly,
For the judgement of his god.

"Step forward now, policeman,
You've born your burdens well.
Come walk a beat on Heaven's streets,
You've done your time in hell"

Joe,
You were more committed to that traffic duty as a volunteer than most people are with their paying careers. The citizens of greater DC are truly grateful for your service and your committment to MPD is something I will never forget. I send my deepest condolences to your family and hope they find comfort in the outpouring of community support.

I live in northern Va. and saw this story on the tv news. Just as DC's Law Enforcement Memorial Week is honoring all fallen officers, another name is added. My deepest sympathy to Officer Pozell's family and fellow officers at this difficult time. I realize that no charges were issued against the young girl involved in this accident and my heart goes out to her as well. No rational human being would want to be responsible for causing the unintentional death of another, so I pray that she may be able to come to terms with this awful accident and live her life in an honorable way as a tribute to this officer. As a survivor family member of a fallen officer I know that we are all mindful of this ODMP and because of our common bond we all will keep Officer Pozell's family and loved ones in our thoughts and hope that time will allow for some acceptance for what cannot be changed. May Officer Pozell rest in God's eternal peace.
