If my words would flow like my tears
If my pain could leak onto the page
If my heart breaking could be visible
Maybe, then, you could know how much I care.

But the words just will not form
The pain is entangled within me
My heart has crumbled within my chest
How can you know how much I care?

If your words will not flow like your tears
If your pain is deep inside
If your heart has shattered within you
Then, you know how much I care.

I wrote this poem in a feeble attempt to express my grief from the loss of Deputy Sheriff Blake Gammill. Though David & I did not know him personnally, his death has had a profound effect on us. Our hearts go out to his family and all who knew and loved him.

Blake,
I can not seem to find the words to express how we feel. You made David feel so confident and welcome at the SO. It seems like just yesterday when we ran into you and the three lovely ladies of your life, at the mall. Haven showing off her shoes that you had bought her. I didn't get a chance to work with you much but I knew that you were a great guy because you were such a GREAT DADDY (and of course Dawn telling me)!! Thank you for all that you have done. You will truly be missed by everyone.

BLAKE,

NO MATTER WHAT KIND OF MOOD I WAS IN YOU WOULD MAKE ME SMILE. THE ONE THING I'LL NEVER FORGET ABOUT YOU IS THE 20 OR 22 HOURS DAYS YOU WORKED. I ASKED YOU ONE DAY IF YOU WERE CRAZY WORKING ALL THE HOURS, YOU RESPONED NO I DO IT TO GIVE MY GIRLS WHAT THEY WANT. YOU WILL BE MISSED MY FRIEND.

Only brother and sister officers understand the importance, danger and true necessity of this profession. Your story is way too common in today's society, but I will not forget it. I promise next time I am securing a residence I will think of you. God bless you, your department and especially your family.

Blake was a member of the NCEA and we were proud to have such a wonderful officer join our organization. He will be missed and we will not forget his sacrifice. Be proud of the path he chose and the code of integrity that he lived by. You will be in our thoughts and prayers. God Bless you.

BLAKE,
I AM LOST FOR WORDS RIGHT NOW. I THINK BACK TO THURSDAY AFTERNOON WHEN YOU CAME BY MY OFFICE AND SAID HERE THIS THING DON'T WORK! CAN YOU GET IT FIXED FOR ME? THEN WE HAD A COUPLE OF LAUGHS AND YOU LEFT.THEN THAT NIGHT MY HEART DROPPED WHEN I WAS TOLD AND FELT EMPTY.I AM GOING TO KEEP THE ITEM YOU GAVE ME AND PUT IT AWAY FOR LATER ON I GUESS IT WILL BE MY LIITLE KEEPSAKE. Do not stand at my grave and weep,
I am not there, I do not sleep.

I am a thousand winds that blow;
I am the diamond glints on snow.

I am the sunlight on ripened grain;
I am the gentle autumn's rain.

When you awaken in the morning's hush,
I am the swift uplifting rush

Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft star that shines at night.

Do not stand at my grave and cry,
I am not there; I did not die.
