HI Nick I miss you . I found an old picture of us I think you were 16 or 17 and I was 6 or 7 . You had a wrap on your arm and I had to have one to for fun so your mom Chris put one on my leg . it was funny to see it . I wish you could have seen what I did in summer of 2005 I was on a swim team I was really good I got most 2 place . I love you just like a big brother. Heather and your mom told me stuff like you taking me to the mall and stuff . I remember one time you took me and nathan to the lake and we went on the waverunner . I think about all the fun things we did. I bet you cant believe I'm 17 now . Nathan and I really miss you a lot we tell Kaitlyn about you . I hope you know a lot of people love you so much . And we all miss you. love Laura

Thanks for watching over John and I for the past three days. I know that you were on the plane during the rough weather last night and made sure that we had a safe landing. John couldn't believe that your numbers kept hitting yesterday, which made for a very sucessful trip...

Talk to you soon....

LOVE YOU FOREVER..

I never knew Nick but did have the honor of working with Terry a few times. I just wanted to make sure that the family knows that we in Southeast Missouri have not forgotten Nick or his sacrifice. We will keep you all in our prayers this week as we gather for our Memorial Service in Cape Girardeau.

I never had the luxury of meeting Ofc. Sloan. However I must say the years have past and I will never forget. I hope you won't either. The huge flag, and the homeless man with the hand written sign stating "Saint Nicholas!" May none of us forget the sacrifice he made for his communty and his country. He gave himeself for all of us. I can only hope to be so noble. Although I hope my family never has to endure the pain you have. I don't remember names, but I do remember what was said and the way I felt the day of his funeral. I along with his sister am sorry I was not there to protect him.

Ofc. Sloan and many others have sacrificed themselves for what they believe in. May God bless them and keep them, as I will forever in my heart.

NICK:

I have a few minutes to send you a short note while Mom and Gavin are still sleeping. I know that you were very happy last night to see so many friends gather together to honor their loved ones. Gavin did a great job during the Mass and I know that were beaming with pride.

Even though Mom is in so much pain, she was still able to walk up to the podium and read the names of the Fallen Officers. It meant so much to her and she did a great job.

Gavin, Bobby and Payton had so much fun running and playing at the reception. Of course they did not want to leave when it was time to go home, even though it was way pass their bed times.

I know that you wished you could of been able to play in the hockey game Friday night. The fireman won in overtime, 7 to 6. It was a great game and Payton definitely is a sports fan. She was cheering and hollering the whole game.

So many of your friends from school still get in touch with Mom and I. It is amazing that you have touched so many people before you were taken away from us.

I better get going, we have another busy day ahead of us.

Love you forever.....

I was lucky enough to know and go to high school with Nick and Kirsten. I remember that Nick always had a smile and would fight for the underdog at any cost; qualities of a good policeman. I also remember thinking how he would make one heck of a boxer with that build (sorry Kir). I remember learning that they were going to have Gavin and how excited I was for them. We fell out of touch as many do after high school except for bumping into each other at a wedding or something like that. Time slipped away and the next thing I knew, I was sitting down in the Basilica that day, next to my husband who is a police officer. I remember telling him that Nick was such a wonderful guy and that I just could not accept the fact that he was taken in such a manner. I was so overwhelmed by the sorrow I felt for you all. Terry, I just want you to know that Nick's biggest wish as long as I knew him, was to be just like you. And in his time here, he tried as best he could to do just that. I am proud of all of you for truly keeping his memory alive. Gavin is very lucky to have so many wonderful people to take care of him and help bring him up. I just wanted you to know that I am reminded of Nick every day, even all these years later. I make sure to kiss my husband goodbye and tell him I love him before he begins his watch each day. God bless you all and may we never forget.

Hi,
I was just looking at your picture that I keep on my desk at home; it is of you and Steve riding his Harley when it was new. Now he is getting ready to sell it (don’t worry, as you know, he has plenty of other toys to occupy his time) and I would give anything to see you two go for a spin on it one more time. I used to tease your Mom and Grandma about always taking pictures, mostly because I really don’t like to be in pictures, but now I am glad we do have pictures of times past. Although, I must admit that my most precious memories are stored not in a box in the closet, or on my hard drive or a CD, but in my heart. I am amazed, as busy as I think I always am that I still just have thoughts of all of you kids run in and out of my mind all day. All of you kids were gifts to me, and I always thought that the reason that I never had children of my own is because I was so blessed with nieces and nephews. I still believe that, although I really miss not seeing you all as much as I would like. One of my biggest memory triggers is seeing the children play. Handsome little Gavin, of course, looks just like you, with Kirsten’s features added to make him his own little man. Last time I saw him, he was having me throw him around, and fly him around like an airplane (I was resting for several days after that). When I lifted him up, it was like I flew back in time and was lifting you, it was a strange mix of happiness and sadness, missing you so much, and happy that you have your little boy to carry on. The twins crack me up also, because they actually remind me of Heather and Michelle when they were little. Genetics are funny, because I think that McKenna looks just like Heather when she was young, that angel face with just enough mischief to make things interesting. When I look at Bobby, he has that same sweet face as well, and from the stories that Heather tells, I think he is a lot like her too. Skylar is a beauty too, Michelle with a nice mix of Mike, and when she gets excited and begins to laugh, her eyes open wide, and she reminds me of that little girl that almost got kicked out of the show when I took her to see Annie way back when for laughing too loud. Of course, times have changed, the new Kids on the Block have given way to High School Musical, but when I see the twins together, it just reminds me of those times so many years ago when Michelle and Heather were like twins growing up together. Reese reminds me of Kim when she was a baby; big blue eyes, dark curly hair, it is just crazy how history repeats. Grant is a joy to be around, although he doesn’t remind me of any of my genetic nieces and nephews, since he is Josiah through and through. I suppose if we were going to let another genetic pool into our family, Josiah’s is an excellent choice, because he is a great guy, and Grant wouldn’t be Grant without him! As you know, Nicole made certain that her DNA was heard in the second round, as Cooper reminds me of so much of her. Cute as can be, and funny too, he’s a repeat of his Mom. I have so many fond memories of all of you; I am blessed to have had all of you in my life. Peyton sounds precious, not certain if she looks like Kelly or James, but I’m certain that she is beautiful. Can’t wait for Bryan, Chris, and Kim to add to the mix, but it is all in due time and God’s will. I know things for you are wonderful, because you are with God. I kind of hope that part of your heaven is to be able to remember all of our fun times; God is good for having given us that time together.

I love you,

Teresa

Nick-
Just wanted to say hi and that I miss you so much. We got to see Gavin over the weekend and Payton & I met everyone at Down Home Cafe for breakfast on Sunday. It was Gavin's idea. I love watching the kids play. They are all getting so big. We went on a boat ride on Sunday. I keep thinking about how you would be riding the waverunner all summer. I have such fond memories about the summer's when we were all up there. It was so peaceful and relaxing.

Well I have to go now,
I love you,

May the road rise to meet you.
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face.
And rains fall soft upon your fields.
And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the hollow of His hand.

God Bless you on St. Patrick's Day...and always!

Nick-
I just wish you were here. You would know what to do. Thanks for the talk on the way home today.

Well, your niece is now 2. Payton is so funny, she does the eyebrow thing that you did. She is such a big helper with everything and she loves to talk. Wonder where she gets that from? Also, she has an attitude.

Please watch over everyone that was affected by Kirkwood. It is so horrible. We went to Officer Ballman's wake yesterday and it brought back so many memories. I know you were with us because of some of the things that Bobby was saying, you had to have suggested the things he said to make us laugh. We are going to Officer Bigg's memorial service tomorrow. I feel so sorry for their families.
Heather made bracelets for the families and you could tell it meant alot to them.

Give everybody a hug for me. Today is 2 years ago that we lost Grandpa and Payton was only 7 days old. December - February is so up and down for us with all of the kids birthdays, Mom's birthday and then Chrismas, your EOW date Grandpa's date. Please be with Mom right now more than usual, she really needs you. Mom and Dad are so amazing. No matter what they are going through, they are always there to help everyone else.

Well, I better go now. We need to try to get some sleep. Happy Valentine's Day!!!!

I love you forever, little brother,
