You have done the honor of the badge true justice. You have passed on doing a job you no doubt have loved doing. Everyone in this line of work knows the dangers and accepts the dangers, however we all never expect it to be "us".

Rest in peach brother and God speed.....You will be in our thoughts forever.

God looked down from the heavens and said: Now it is time for me to call this soul,God is speaking from the heavens; just look unto the hills.I may have called this precious one but his spirit is with you still.
Lay your burden in His hand for His is strong,
Rest your head on His shoulders, for His is compassionate.
Give to Him your pain and sorrow for he is Love.
To the family of Agent Epling, your loss is felt by many whom you do not know.I hope it brings comfort to realize that your loved one and the tragedy that led to his death will never be forgotten.

I am a retired Orange County California Deputy Sheriff that has worked for Customs in an administrative capacity for the past 18 years. It always hurts to read about any law enforcement oficer being lost in the line of duty. This hits especially hard for me since my son is in the final phase of becoming a Customs Inspector. I hope he will uphold the honor, bravery and integrity of the Bureau of Customs and Border Protection the way Agent Epling did. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and unborn child. Thank you for your service and dedication Agent Epling, in doing everything you could to protect out country. You did a great job and have earned your rest. Rest in Peace and know that you are a hero.

Anytime is a sad time to lose a loved one, but as the holidays near, it
seems to be the worst. I am sickened that you had to lose your
sweetheart and the children their Dad and his parents their son... and it
goes on and on. My heart is heavy with your pain and sadness. May
God comfort all those who are grieving your passing. Life is difficult at
times and the Lord Jesus wants to help carry our burdens. He gives us
many beautiful promises in His Word to help us through our valleys. I
pray you will feel His presence and know His peace. Thank you for your
service, dedication and mostly, your sacrifice, James. We ache from
missing you.
