Jessica,

I just wanted to say that it was great to meet you at Police Week this year, though I am sorry for the reason we met. I am truly sorry for the loss of your fiance and that you have to feel the same pain I felt, and still feel, in losing Dennis. From hearing you speak a little about Matthew, and your relationship with him, he sounds like a great guy. I could tell you shared something special with him. You were lucky to have been able to be a part of his life. It is apparent that Matthew brought a lot of love into your life. Treasure all those "little gifts" that Matthew gave you and the time you shared together. They, combined with the love you shared, will give you a source of strength to keep moving forward in life. I wish you the best in wherever life takes you. I hope that someday you will again acheive the level of happiness that Matthew so desired for you. I wish you luck as you work through your loss. If you ever make it to police week again look me up. I am sure I'll be back there.

Peace, love, luck, and happiness to you.

God saw you getting tired, and relief was not to be. So He put His arms around you, And whsipered, "Come with me." With tearful eyes we watched you suffer, and saw you fade away. Though we coudln't ask you to stay. A golden heart stopped beating, Hard working hands laid to rest, God broke our hearts to prove us, HE ONLY TAKES THE BEST.

We know we have back up in Heaven. When we get there we know you'll be guarding those pearly gates.

Officer Matthew Pavelka, you are a true hero and brave man. My thoughts and prayers have been with you and your family every day since that tragic evening. November 15th, 2003 rings in my head constantly as the night you gave it all for the City of Burbank and this nation, in our continued effort to keep society safe and out of harms way.

As I am currently in the testing process for the City of Burbank Police Department, I take with me everything you stood for and take great pride in following in your footsteps sir.

Officer Pavelka, I watched your funeral on tv. I cried for your family and for the pain they will endure for the rest of their lives. I just want to thank you for protecting us all and for keeping us safe. Know that we will continue to try and keep this world a better place, as you would have. I pray for your partner and for the dispatchers that were on duty that day trying to keep you safe. I pray everyday that the deputies and fireman I dispatch for will come home safely to their families. As I am married to one of those fireman. Know that all the Public Safety Agencies will always be there for your family and will remember you always. Thank you Officer Pavelka.

I worked and partied with Matty for about two years while we were stationed together at RAF Lakenheath. Being stationed their was extreamly difficult and taxing emotionally and physically. Matty and I worked together on the road many times. When I knew that I was going to be working with him I always looked foward to going to work. I knew that we were going to be having a good time. When ever we worked together at least one criminal was put in hand cuffs that night. Matty was always there to get your back so it was no surprise to me to hear he was on scene so fast the fatefull night. Just to know that we were friends for four years and stationed together and had so many fun times together makes me feel so honored to be able to call him a friend. I will never forget Matty or the wild and crazy times we had in the U.K. He was always the first to get your back when it hit the fan out on the town. I really don't think anybody that knew Matty could ever forget the wild times on or off duty. He was the type of person you always wanted around. There definatly is a void in the world and in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.........You will never be forgotten bro

most people would tell you that law enforcement is a dangerous job. i never listened. I was always afriad when there was a domestic call or when i heard dispatch say use caution with someone. My husband was a little man but his size never mattered to him. He wanted to be a policeman, he wanted to make the small town we lived in a safe place for everyone. i never thought that directing traffic would be the worst thing that he could do. I just want to say to all the officers that read this "To be careful out there and watch out for other drivers and be careful so you can go home to your family" GOD BLESS
