On behalf of my agency and all law enforcement from NC, I would like to express my sympathies to Ofc. Water's family and the West Memphis PD. I know of the hurt and loss. A Wake Co. Deputy who was a friend of mine was killed last week. I was humbled and honored to be a pallbearer at the funeral. Any officer that dies in the performance of his duty is a TRUE HERO in every sense of the word.
Just as the Bible reads, "Blessed are the Peacemakers, for they will be called children of God." Matt. 5:9

To Officer Waters wife and Family.
I had the pleasure of going through the Acadamy with Mike, he was a fun guy to be around, and you could tell that his heart and soul was in Police work. As only the men and women who are in Law Enforcement know, this job gets in your blood. And we all know, all to well, the risks that are involved. Rest in Peace my friend, knowing that the streets of West Memphis are a little safer because you were there.

MIKE AND I WERE HIRED THE SAME DAY AND BECAME LIKE BROTHERS. I ALWAYS COULD DEPEND ON HIM FOR ANYTHING AND I NEVER DOUBTED IF HE HAD MY BACK. MIKE LOVE TO CHASE THE BAD GUYS AND YOU KNEW HE WAS COMING IF THERE WAS A FIGHT! I WAS IN THE CHASE WITH MIKE AND MISSED LEADING THE CHASE BY LESS THEN 30 SECONDS. I KNOW THAT HE WAS AT HIS HAPPIESS WHEN THAT CHASE STARTED AND HE WOULD NOT WANTED TO BE ANYWHERE BUT THERE. I LOST MY BROTHER THAT DAY, BUT I KNOW THAT HE LEADING A CAR CHASE IN HEAVEN! I LOVE YOU MIKE AND I CAN'T FORGET YOU!

To the family, friends, and co-workers of Officer Waters,
I am so sad to read of your loss. It breaks my heart to know how much pain you are going through, I have been there.
It hurts to see another name added to list of so many heros who paid the ultimate sacrafice.
God will take your broken hearts and hold them in His gentle, loving hands and comfort you, just lean on Him!!
Another angel got his wings. God only takes the BEST!!

I didn't know Ofc. Waters, but my prayers go out for his family and his co-workers at the West Memphis PD. Before I became a Sheriffs Deputy I used to be a truck driver for Schneider National, was based out of the West Memphis office. During that time I had the chance to talk with many of the officers from the WMPD and learned a lot about law enforcement. Those kind words and the"hang in there's" helped me to were I'am at today. Thank you and may the lord help you get pass this difficult moment.
