Once again, we read of the totally senseless and totally preventable demise of yet another hero of the law enforcement family. How ironic it is that Trooper Newton lost his life while enforcing traffic laws, doing his best to make our highways safer. To Trooper Newton's family and friends, please accept our sincerest sympathies and, please, know that you are not alone. God has taken your loved one home to be with Him. To the brothers and sisters of the Missouri State Highway Patrol, we love you and we, law enforcement officers everywhere, reach our collective arms around you and pray for strength and courage in the days ahead. May God bless you and protect you, today and everyday.

Rest in peace, Trooper Newton. You've borne your duties well.

This just shows that danger is always present no matter what type of call an officer is on. This is just a tragedy. God bless and comfort the family of Trooper Newton during this tragic time.

It is always difficult to visit the ODMP and see another officer's name added to the list of fallen hero's. This is no exception.

May God bless you and your family at this tragic loss. You will not be forgotten by your law enforcement family.

Illinois State Police

How terrible, the loss of a fine young trooper, performing a seemingly routine duty. This shows that no aspect of law enforcement is really routine.

His service to the State of Missouri, his district and to this country is greatly appreciated. His work reflects the greatest credit on this profession.

I pray for his family, friends and colleagues. We all feel the loss, because we are all family of the badge, regardless of where we live and work, or what uniform we wear.

He now patrols the highways of Heaven with St. Michael. God Bless and be safe.
