Brother, it's been a long while. I have moved to another agency and I'm working hard. I also work hard to remember you. I tell your story to every new officer I train. I tell every officer to expect the unexpected, but always be human. My prayers to your family and to you looking down on them.

Megan:
You have been prayed for today. I know the pain youa re going through and it will get better over time but the void in your life will always be there. Live your life in honor and memory of your dad. He must have been a great father!!

Toney, It has been a long time since I last seen you. I often think of you and the day I met you. You were helping a stranded motorist and I assisted you pushing the vehicle out of the road. I remember it was the same sad day you were taken away from us. I remember your last words to us when you left, "be careful out there, I'll see you later". I know you are with our Lord, and may he grant your family the strength to cary on and the wisdom to know that you are with him watching over us all from above. For now my friend we will continue the watch on these streets while you patrol the streets of Gold. God be with your family my friend. We all miss you. Vincent

So when everything first happened everyone said that the pain would go away but that is not true some days are better than others. Other days are sometimes unbearable. I wish u were here to help me. People dont understand because when u lose someone u love everyone grieves differently. And just to let u know I no now what u meant when u said "one day maegan u will understand" those words ring in my mind everyday because at 17 i thought i was grown i thought i knew everytihng but the truth is hard to grasp daddy u were right and i know u knew that i just wish u were here to that i know what u were talking about.

i luv u, miss u!!!

Merry Christmas my friend. You are loved and missed beyond words. I know that your Christmas with Christ was undescribable. We will all share in that glorious celebration one day.

"The Badge"

He starts his shift each day
To respond to calls unknown.
He drives a marked patrol car.
A police officer he is known.

He's paid by the citizens' taxes
To make it safe on the streets.
But he usually has a second job
'Cause a waitress has his salary beat.

Now he doesn't know a holiday
'Cause he works all year round.
And when Thanksgiving and Christmas finally arrive
At his home he cannot be found.

He's cursed and assaulted often,
The one whos blood runs blue.
He seldom ever gets a thanks,
To some he's just a fool.

His friends are always other cops
'Cause people just don't understand
That underneath his badge and gun,
He's just another man.

He knows there might not be a tomorrow
In this world of drugs and crime.
And he gets so mad at the court system
'Cause the crooks don't get any time.

And each day when he leaves for work,
He prays to God above.
Please bring me home after my shift
So I can see the ones I love.

But tonight he stops a speeding car,
He's alone down this ole' highway.
It's just a little traffic infraction.
He does it everyday.

Well, he walks up to the driver's window,
And his badge is shining bright.
He asked the guy for a driver's license,
When a shot rang through the night.

Yes, the bullet hit its mark,
Striking the officer in the chest.
But the Department's budget didn't buy
Each officer a bullet-proof vest.

So he lay on the ground bleeding.
His blood wasn't blue - His blood was red.
And briefly he thought of his loved ones
'Cause in a moment the officer was dead.

In the news they told the story
Of how this officer had died.
And some who listened cared less,
But those who loved him cried.

Well, they buried him in uniform
With his badge pinned on his chest.
He even had his revolver,
He died doing his best.
