Reflections for Officer Conrad Sudario Gernale

Conrad may you rest in peace, and to your family my prays will be with you. I am glad I had the pleasure of being able to call you "my friend".

Deputy J.D. Lang
Jefferson County Sheriffs Department

To Conrad's family, friends, and my former co-workers please know that my thoughts and prayers are with you always. For 5 1/2 years I dispatched Conrad to call after call, and happily he went .. never complaining, never asking why I picked him, always happy to go and do the job he loved so dearly. As many others have said already, he was a wonderful man who will be deeply missed. May God bless his family and may time heal their pain. Conrad will never be forgotten.

Christy McLaughlin (Bourgeois)
Former BPD Dispatcher

Conrad...I had the priviledge of working with you for 5 1/2 years and knowing you for over 10. Your smile, that chuckle, and your wonderful and gentle heart will be so missed by everyone that knew you. May God bless your wife, children, family, friends, and co-workers who loved you so much. You are truly a hero and as the following poem says, you will not be forgotten. Rest in peace my friend.

Unforgotten Hero
Author: Joyce Wallace, Irving PD Dispatch

Unforgotten you will always be
I will carry your memory forever with me

On that dark and dreadful eve
When you received your fatal leave

To serve and protect you did the best
Now with God you are surely blessed

No more worry, no more pain
You did not die in vain

You chose the path you wanted dearly
Now to mind it comes too clearly

So others would live another day
The ultimate price you did pay

Unforgotten you will always be

I WAS FORTUNATE TO HAVE KNOWN CONRAD, AS I WORKED WITH HIM FOR A FEW YEARS. HE WAS TRULY AN HONEST, KIND AND TRUSTWORTHY PERSON. THE ONE THING THAT GAVE ME SOME PEACE THE NIGHT HE WAS TAKEN FROM US, IS THAT THERE IS NOT ONE DOUBT THAT HE HAS A SPECIAL PLACE IN HEAVEN. I FEEL SAFER KNOWING HE IS WATCHING OVER US ALL.

CONRAD, YOU WILL ALWAYS BE LOVED AND REMEMBERED. RIP

Conrad Gernale
Constant Gentle
Caring God loving
Compassionate God fearing
Committed Great father
Comrad Great husband

Conrad lived his life as an example to us all. He loved God and lived his life accordingly. He was a dedicated husband and father. He was a gentle, soft spoken man whom I never saw angry. Conrad treated people with respect and compassion. I pray daily for his widow, Anna, as well as their children. She received the knock on the door that we all fear. In honor of Conrad and his family, I will daily wear the ribbon which the officers' wives were given at the funeral for the duration of the 30 days which my husband covers his badge. May Officer Conrad Gernale rest in peace. May the Lord bless and keep his family.

Tammie Harrison Lang
Spouse of Deputy J.D., Jefferson County Sheriff's Dept., Beaumont, TX

It really is a sad day when someone takes the life of another. To do so to someone who has dedicated their life to protecting the people of our communities, is unforgivable.
My heart goes out not only to Mrs. Gernale and family, but to all Officers who have lost their lives doing a job that can be terrifying, yet fulfilling at the same time.
God blees you all and keep the Faith and Belief in God in your hearts.
Also, here is a saying I try to live my life by:
If you can't forgive and forget,
forgive everytime you remember!

CONRAD WAS MY FRIEND. WE DONT REALLY THINK TOO MUCH ABOUT THINGS SUCH AS FRIENDSHIP, UNTIL... I RESPECTED CONRAD AS AN OFFICER AND A PERSON. HE WAS ALWAYS THERE IN THE FIELD WHEN I NEEDED HIM, STANDING RIGHT BESIDE ME. UNLIKE MYSELF, I NEVER SAW CONRAD RAISE HIS VOICE OR LOOSE HIS TEMPER IN ANGER. I NEVER SAW HIM SPEAK DOWN TO ANYONE OR TREAT THEM AS THEY WERE ANY DIFFERENT THAN HE. I NEVER SAW CONRAD BACK DOWN FROM ANYONE WHEN IT WAS TIME TO GO TO WORK.
I DID, HOWEVER, SEE HIM GREET EVERY ONE HE KNEW, EVERY TIME HE SAW THEM. I DID , SEE HIM TREAT EVERYONE WITH RESPECT AND DIGNITY. I DID SEE HIM AS A MAN OF GREAT INTEGRITY AND HONESTY. AND I "DO" STILL SEE HIM AS MY FRIEND.
