"The Badge"

He starts his shift each day
To respond to calls unknown.
He drives a marked patrol car.
A police officer he is known.

He's paid by the citizens' taxes
To make it safe on the streets.
But he usually has a second job
'Cause a waitress has his salary beat.

Now he doesn't know a holiday
'Cause he works all year round.
And when Thanksgiving and Christmas finally arrive
At his home he cannot be found.

He's cursed and assaulted often,
The one whos blood runs blue.
He seldom ever gets a thanks,
To some he's just a fool.

His friends are always other cops
'Cause people just don't understand
That underneath his badge and gun,
He's just another man.

He knows there might not be a tomorrow
In this world of drugs and crime.
And he gets so mad at the court system
'Cause the crooks don't get any time.

And each day when he leaves for work,
He prays to God above.
Please bring me home after my shift
So I can see the ones I love.

But tonight he stops a speeding car,
He's alone down this ole' highway.
It's just a little traffic infraction.
He does it everyday.

Well, he walks up to the driver's window,
And his badge is shining bright.
He asked the guy for a driver's license,
When a shot rang through the night.

Yes, the bullet hit its mark,
Striking the officer in the chest.
But the Department's budget didn't buy
Each officer a bullet-proof vest.

So he lay on the ground bleeding.
His blood wasn't blue - His blood was red.
And briefly he thought of his loved ones
'Cause in a moment the officer was dead.

In the news they told the story
Of how this officer had died.
And some who listened cared less,
But those who loved him cried.

Well, they buried him in uniform
With his badge pinned on his chest.
He even had his revolver,
He died doing his best.

This reflection`is written to you, in your honor, and in keeping my promise to all of you. The promise that each of you, who gave so much, have their own reflection from me.
What kind of man runs into a building to save others, knowing that the building is about to collapse? A hero, that's what kind of man would do that. And you, sir, are every bit a hero. Your sacrifice, and your actions, helped to spare the lives of so many others, that were facing certain doom. They, and the rest of us still here, are forever in your debt.
As the Christmas holiday is approaching, I would like to convey to your family, my utmost respect and sincere wishes for them, that they feel the love and respect of ALL Americans for the sacrifice you made. I pray that their pain and sorrow will be eased this holiday season with the knowledge that you are in a better place, smiling down on us.
As you patrol the streets of Heaven, may the Lord keep you close to him. Though your absence has left our sacred blue line a bit thinner, the line has held. Rest in peace, brother, and Merry Christmas in Heaven. Amen

There are but two persons who protect the sinful human race from destroying itself. One is God's Holy Spirit. The other is the Peace Officer. Without them, we would all perish at each other's hands.

You were called into this profession and our Lord and Savior has blessed you because:
According to Romans 13.1-5...
God ordains the Peace Officer’s profession.
The Peace Officer is sent by God.
The Peace Officer is vested with God's authority to enforce the law.
A Peace Officer's badge is to be honored by us, because God honors it.

You gave the ultimate sacrifice, your life for your fellow man, while serving, defending, and protecting others in your community.

Thank you for your service to America. Your efforts saved thousand that horrible day.
My thoughts and prayers go out to your family and friends. You will be in our hearts forever.

Officer Don Reichhardt
Virginia State University Police Department

It was late one Tuesday evening,
Before a mother could sit down,
To tell her only child about
The terror that hit downtown.

She looked into the eyes of her son
God, she loved him so,
She felt her heart begin to break
And the hurt begin to show.

She gathered all her strength and courage,
as her story she began to tell.
"Baby don't cry, but I'm afraid daddy
Might be under a building that fell."

The boy looked back at his mother,
His eyes made not one blink.
And the mother's tears began to fall.
What would her baby think?

You see, his dad is a Policeman,
And his hero from the day of his birth.
He loved his dad more than anything else
That could ever inherit this earth.

The mother's head began to drop,
Her forehead resting on palm.
She thought her son would be upset.
Instead, he was very calm.

The boy leaned over towards his mom,
And put his hand upon her head.
In her ear he began to whisper,
And this is what he said:

"Mommy please don't cry,
I knew daddy wasn't coming home.
I talked to him just a while ago,
But it wasn't on the phone.

He told me that he loved me,
And he promised we'd meet again.
He told of his new home,
And the job he was to begin."

"God is building an army,
And there are many angels needed.
That, is where daddy and the others went.
They weren't all defeated."

It was then, the mother lifted her head.
The tears streamed down her face.
And she could feel her husband's presence,
As it filled her heart with grace.

It was then she knew her son was right.
He was in God's great army now.
She also knew her son was safe,
That he'd be kept from harm somehow.

So, evildoers of the world beware.
An army is on the way.
Bolstered by new angels,
Who left the towers that day..

Their commander has never been beaten.
His power has never been matched,
And if evil thinks He was almighty before......
Well, the surface has just been scratched!

9-11-02 - 1 year anniversary
We will NEVER forget!
GOD BLESS!

IN LOVING MEMORY OF SANTOS

I prayed on 9/11 for your safety and the safety of others, but you were taken away from all of whom you meant so much to. You were a friend for so many years, and I will never forget you. I will remember the days that you would protect me when we bumped into each other on dangerous calls. Telling me to stand behind you, since you were the one wearing the vest. I will cherish all the memories of you especially the annoying sounds you would make of the Three Stooges. I for the longest since 9/11 could not watch them. Because it would only remind me of you (all of the Nuck Nucks and Why Certainly). I look up to the stars at night, and know that you are shining down over us probably with a cig in the mouth, and a cold beer. Santos I know one day we will meet again, until then you will never be FORGOTTEN. I ask you of one favor Please tell my grandmother that I Miss her Very Much.
Miss You Dear Friend
Debra
