Leave a Reflection

Reflections for Police Officer William Ronald Toney

Tears flow down my face
Thinking of the place,
That you were after your last chase.

Police, family and friends are red-faced and sighing
While others were really trying
To comfort those who were crying.

Nothing seems real
And there’s a feel
That this wouldn’t be a quick heal.

There were tons of people on look
Searching every cranny and nook
For the guy who took.

Swelled-up eyes sit in the pews
Staring at the dark hues
That lay across the coffin of the red, white, and blue

Hundreds of cars drove down the street
Thousands lined up on their feet
To pay their respects to the one they never did meet.

After the grave site service stopped
The blood stained carnations were dropped
With dirt, the coffin was topped

It was a cold, overcast, and dreary day
The kind that makes one pray
To overcome all the gray.

It's still hard to believe you are gone. Missed daily . . .

Just thinking of you.

I have to agree with Scotty on the Bears thing. You did get real mad that night. Just like every time I put you and Todd in your place with Tecmo Super Bowl. How great was that game? I still play it. Ofcourse I'm still the Eagles all the time. Oilers and Cowboys are still on my mind though. Who could ever stop my favorite player ever-Cunningham!? Not you or Todd! HAHAHAHA!! Man... I remember that like it was yesterday. Got the B-day wish from you and Todd back on the 23rd. Real funny. Brought tears to my eyes cause I know for a fact that you guys did that. No other explanation for the song, time, and place. Too many things happen for it not too of been from you two. Every other thought is you guys man. Some days are easier and some are hard. That goes along with your every day life though. But for about 98% of the time, I'm real good. What can I say really, I'm a human being. I'll be seeing you guys....

Bill,

You and your family have really been on my heart lately and I just wanted to say hello. Andrew was the Best Man in my wedding out here in beautiful Arizona October of '05. I know you still can't believe someone actually willingly decided to be with me...But it's true. You had to have something to do with the Bears losing to the Colts in the SuperBowl since you are still mad my Bears destroyed your beloved Cowboys on Monday Night when you invited me and Drew over and then promptly kicked us out at halftime and blamed it on Dee-Dee. You and your entire family are in our thoughts and prayers and I cannot wait to see you again. Take care and THANK YOU for your amazing service!!

I can't believe that my little niece is 5'2 and wears a 9 1/2 shoe! Give her two inches and she'll be taller than me! It seems like yesterday when she was on a blanket with Brittany trying to bite at anyone who went near her. How I miss them being so little.

Just like everything else...here and gone. The softball deal was a great time. It's funny how I hadn't seen a lot of the people that I saw last Saturday. It's sort of like weddings and funerals....that's what it felt like. We all had a blast though. Everyone knowing at the tip of their tongue what the deal was. Sort of funny too. Great times though. I'll see you guys on the flip side.

P.S. Pretty funny business at the license branch friday-huh?

It's hard to swallow 6 years ago tonight all was "normal" and then all changed so drastically. You are still so missed. I miss you for Dee and the girls, for your family, for our family and for your friends. I'm so thankful I can still picture your smile and remember your laugh. There is so much I wish you were still here for. Miss you and always will. -Donna * I'll grab a package of Twizzlers for you for tomorrow :)

Man Bill, I can't believe it's been 6 years. Whenever I hear a Buffett song I always think of you. I know you are smiling down on us all. You have to be so proud of Deedee and the girls. I know she is happy. Life has gone on like they all said it would 6 years ago, but it has not been easy. It was 6 years today on a Friday I remember talking to you on the phone for the last time. We both wanted to talk more, but we both had to go and do things, like the Chesney song, "Livin' in fast forward". I wish you could be here so we can share in each others dreams and accomplishments. We all miss you.

Why does the weather and day have to seem just like it was six years ago today?

You are on my mind today....

September 29, 2006

Like Buffett says about Sundays, that "particular gray" is here again it being this time of year. Leaves and all....

September 27, 2006

Six years. You'd be proud of your girls. Jess is 10 and playing travel basketball and softball. Emily is 7 and on the gymnastics team. They have a little brother now too - whom they adore. The softball tournament is coming up - it falls on the 30th this year - ironic huh? They know the tournament is for their Daddy Bill. God, in his own way, has delivered blessing to us since our tragedy. Life does go on - it has to - and with tragedy comes strength. Your family is being loved by another great man - like you would have wanted, and good ole Amy is still hanging out - being like a fun big sister to them all! Six years - time does not heal all wounds - love does.

Wow, we have been out of school for 20 years!! We are not that old, are we? "Freebird" - I guess that is what you are now. Miss you.
