Reflections for Police Officer William Ronald Toney
Let every soul be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and the authorities that exist are appointed by God..for (they are) God's minister to you for good. Romans 13:1,4
Bill was a perfect example of God's minister. Continuing your work Bill, still missed and talked about everyday!

Happy New Year! I've been really happy with many things lately but I still miss you because I wish I could call you and share these things. I know you know about them but it's not the same without hearing your response.

Another party that I wish you would have been at. Living like I'm dying. Happy New Year!

Bill,
It's obvious from the posts u were a friend to so many all in different ways. I miss our friendship as well! Your death showed me how crazy short that it can all be. I have a lived a bit on the edge because of this. Having fun and trying to keep everything in balance! U are missed and thought of!

7 Years Now - You are missed, I see you when I see a Ninja at a stop light, My son and I ate at a KFC awhile ago-1st time in seems a decade, I asked for the Chicken Littles, they do not make them anymore, I knew you would be disappointed, we lived on those. I still have the Red/Purple Ribbon pinned to my visor in my truck, till this day, although when it catchs my eye, I think of you. Believe it or not, I saw a Citation a few weeks ago, and remembered how you always had to hold the towel in the door to keep from getting wet. Time goes by too fast, I will treasure all the memories and great times that we have shared. Miss ya Bill

INDIANAPOLIS -- The Indiana Supreme Court has again upheld the death penalty for Benjamin Ritchie, who killed a Beech Grove police officer in 2000.
The high court on Thursday rejected Ritchie's claims that he received ineffective legal counsel and a claim that jurors should not have seen interviews he did with the media while he was shackled and wearing jail clothing.
Ritchie is on death row for the September 2000 shooting death of Officer William Toney.

"The Badge"
He starts his shift each day
To respond to calls unknown.
He drives a marked patrol car.
A police officer he is known.
He's paid by the citizens' taxes
To make it safe on the streets.
But he usually has a second job
'Cause a waitress has his salary beat.
Now he doesn't know a holiday
'Cause he works all year round.
And when Thanksgiving and Christmas finally arrive
At his home he cannot be found.
He's cursed and assaulted often,
The one whos blood runs blue.
He seldom ever gets a thanks,
To some he's just a fool.
His friends are always other cops
'Cause people just don't understand
That underneath his badge and gun,
He's just another man.
He knows there might not be a tomorrow
In this world of drugs and crime.
And he gets so mad at the court system
'Cause the crooks don't get any time.
And each day when he leaves for work,
He prays to God above.
Please bring me home after my shift
So I can see the ones I love.
But tonight he stops a speeding car,
He's alone down this ole' highway.
It's just a little traffic infraction.
He does it everyday.
Well, he walks up to the driver's window,
And his badge is shining bright.
He asked the guy for a driver's license,
When a shot rang through the night.
Yes, the bullet hit its mark,
Striking the officer in the chest.
But the Department's budget didn't buy
Each officer a bullet-proof vest.
So he lay on the ground bleeding.
His blood wasn't blue - His blood was red.
And briefly he thought of his loved ones
'Cause in a moment the officer was dead.
In the news they told the story
Of how this officer had died.
And some who listened cared less,
But those who loved him cried.
Well, they buried him in uniform
With his badge pinned on his chest.
He even had his revolver,
He died doing his best.

Sometimes the signs are so obvious, they take my breath away.
You are remembered almost as much as you're missed.

To all the family and friends of Officer Toney - What a tragic loss. Know that during this tough day you are in the prayers of the entire law enforcement community. We reach out and embrace you in your tears and in your memories of your loved one lost.
Remember that while he is gone, his memory will live on forever in your hearts. I know that does not take away all the "what might have been" thoughts or take the pain away, but it is my prayer that you will be able to look into the future and live as he would have wanted.

The 8th annual Bill Toney Memorial Tourney was a big success. We raised $1300 for Bill's mom who is fighting breast cancer. And even better news is that she's winning the fight. We had a record 8 teams this year and the Separatists have now completed their 3-Peat by defeating Andrew Toney's team 10-9 in the championship game.
Thanks to everyone for their help in making this years tourney run so smoothly. It's amazing he's been gone 7 years. We miss ya more than anything. I think it's great that even though you aren't with us anymore you still managed to come through and help out your mom this year. And your Cowboys are 3 and 0! We miss you Bill!!!!
