Reflections for Police Officer II Robert Joe Mata

Bobby, it seems just like yesterday that you were making me laugh in the locker room before roll call.  We had some good times down in Watts chasing the bad guys but what I'll remember most will be your sense of humor.  You won't be forgotten.  JC

It is always sad when you here of a officers passing. It makes it harder when you read how each officer gives their life. Here in Orlando Fl. this saddly reminds me of how tragic your death was. Officer Tayna B. King, a former LAPD officer was killed here, saddly just like you, responding to back a officer in trouble. She too died by a light pole that fell ontop of her car. Yet i am lifted in knowing that angels like you are watching over not only your fellow officers but the entire community. Never Forgotten.

His Love for you continues on forever. I believe he would want you to carry on and be happy. I believe we will all be reunited in Heaven. I will always remember his bravery. Honor him and live your life to the fullest. We will never forget him.

Holly,
I read your reflection you left for Bobby and it brought tears to my eyes... Please continue to stay strong for your daughters and know that your husband is ALWAYS by your side.
I can only imagine that the pain is unbearable however your husband continues to live through the lives of your beautiful children. I grew up where Bobby was stationed and my family is from Hawaii and I now live in Whittier and I feel as if it has touched so close to home.
My husband is a Detective for LAPD and I pray for him each day to come home to me and our two children. It is the brave and dedicated officers men like Bobby and all of the LAPD family that keeps Los Angeles safe.
Continue to stay strong and please know that my prayers are always with you.

Hey Mexican,

We had Kalei's birthday party today. She got a lot of toys that she's been wanting. :) We wish that you were here. All day, I couldn't help but think of last year, when you dropped off her cake at her class. And I wondered if she was thinking about what I was thinking... how her last birthday, was the last time she saw you. -- I know this isn't how it works but, when she blowed out her candles, I made a wish for her... that you would visit her in her dreams tonight... and hold her tight and tell her how much you love her. Bobby we miss you so much.... So much that I often have a hard time breathing. How I wish to see your crooked smile, hear your laugh, watch you watch Sportscenter, see the look in your eyes when a new DVD comes out. Oh, I see it in their eyes Bobby, when they see your pictures around the house, and they want you to be there again... playing with them, hugging them... IT HURTS!!! --- I can't wait to see you again. I hope it will be soon. I LOVE YOU! And I miss my Buddy. Visit us, PLEASE! -- Love, Joy
