Reflections for Officer James Robert Snedigar

I want to say to the family and coworkers of Officer Snedigar that I am moved inside after reading about this tragedy. You can be very proud of him for his service to his community and his fellow man. May God bless you and guide you through this most difficult of times. May the memory of his service and sacrifice remain forever.

Dear James and the Chandler SWAT Unit,

As a fellow SWAT practitioner I felt your loss. Having seen the pain in your faces the day we layed your brother to rest, I know he was loved. In the trenches we fight, in life we suffer, in Heaven we rest. Our job is thankless, yet we continue every day looking in to the eyes of evil.

SWAT Officers chose to serve the way we do. 5%

Four years later and 1500 miles away, I still think often of Ofc. Snedigar as I go about my police career. '99 was a particularly difficult and dangerous year for all of us that wore a badge in the Valley. I feel immeasurable pride that I was a part of it, and proud of the way we all came closer together to help each other through it. Many officers in that time period made some huge sacrifices and I was fortunate to be able to learn from their experiences. It all made me a better person and a better cop and I draw upon it even today when I go home after my shift, never taking for granted the simple gift of opening the door and hugging my wife and girls.

I hope Jim's family is doing well and I wish the best to his brother/sister officers in Chandler (and the rest of Arizona). He is not forgotten and he continues to be an inspiration. May God bless Jim.

Once and Always a Scottsdale Cop

Jim and family...Know that you have not been forgotten, and that you are still very much a part of us at the Police Department, especially those of us who were on the SWAT team with you. You were the guy who always had an American flag patch proudly dislpayed upon your tactical vest, so we all wear a subdued Anerican flag patch upon our vests that has your badge number and end of watch date. This is also displayed upon our rescue vehicle and equipment vehicle. Our team and department is better off for having had you as one of our own. Please know that your loss was not without cause...."In Valor there is hope " ....these words are written upon the wall that bears your name......

i still think about the day you died and how much it hurt the entire valley to lose such a brave warrior....you will never be forgotten....
