Though I never knew him, he was part of my Law Enforcement family and I will mourn this deep loss the rest of my life. My heart aches with all the losses we have suffered, and continue to suffer, through the years. God is our only peace through such incidents. May family & friends feel the presence of the "God of all comfort" as they endure the distressing days ahead. I join you in your agonizing grief & remember you in my prayers.

"Never forget what they did here. It is rather for us, the living, to be dedicated here to the great task remaining before us - that, from these honored dead we take increased devotion to that cause for which they here, gave the last full measure of devotion - that we here highly resolve that these dead shall not have died in vain."
President Lincoln
Your sacrifice and last full measure of devotion will not be forgotten. RIP Brother

I come to the ODMP often to remember my late fiance Dennis. Every time I come here it breaks my heart to know that yet another officer has fallen and that yet another family has to live their lives without the officer they loved. My heart goes out to everyone who knew and loved Deputy Benoit. Know that you are not alone in the "journey" that you walk. Should you ever need anything please don't hesitate to contact me. (The Davis Co. Sheriff's Office in Iowa will always know how to reach me. I can also be found on Face Book.) You will be in my thoughts.
From reading the reflections left for Randall he sounds like he was a great man with a beautiful spirit. Those of you who knew him in life were so blessed to have been able to share in it. I hope that you will all continue to find a way to celebrate and remember Randall's life and the MAN that he was. Remember that Randall's life was about so much more than the way he died. Randall will continue to live on as long as we continue to remember him.
Deputy Benoit, thank you for helping to make this world a little safer for us all. YOU will not be forgotten. Please continue to watch over all of us as only you can. If you happen to bump into my late fiance Dennis up there give him a big hug for me and the kids. It's been nine years and he's still very much missed and forever loved.
Wishing you brighter and better days,
Jocelyne :)

Father God, bless this HERO Officers family with strength, peace, and comfort, that only YOU can provide. Bless the Department family as they cope with the loss. Be there, Lord, as they cry out to You in the midnight hour. Cause them to know that You are there and will never leave their side. I paise You and honor You, Lord, for hearing this prayer. In Jesus' Matchless Name, Amen.

What can I say that would take all this pain away for your friends and family. I will never forget your cookouts and always backing me up while I worked Vinton. You would always make jokes about everything, even when I rode on the hood of the patrol car through Vinton and you were shouting on the PA. Good times Good memories. When you see Alan give him my best. Miss ya bud.

I had the pleasure of working with Randy at Sulphur High School for 2 years. Even though he could seriously drive me crazy, he was sooo hard to stay mad at. You could be chewing his butt out and then he would flex his chest and you just had to laugh. He really cared for and got to know as many of our students as he could. I am going to miss his sense of humor and compassion so much. I will never forget Randy. Taken from us way too soon. I saw him at Christmas and I am so glad I got to talk to him. I am praying for Kathy and his family

In the sadness of the situation it is awsome to see that you spread so much joy in your time here that everyone, as upset and heartbroken as they are, can still only laugh. You have left a room many times with everyone asking the same question... Did he really just say/do that? You will be missed. Relax as we take over your watch and try to meet the standard that you have set.
P.S. I still have that video of you dancing

Lil daddy, you made us smile and you made us happy t0 call you a friend. I talked with Kathy at the funeral home and reminded her of all the funny crap you used to come up with. We both wondered "Where the hell did that come from?" but knew no one could say like you.....You are missed every single minute of every day by all of your brothers/sisters in blue. You will never be forgotten. We laughed at the funeral because we knew you were with God (probably making him laugh so hard he pissed his pants) and when you met Him you said "Lil Daddy it's Benoit".....God speed Randy Benoit...

His Judgment Day:
The officer stood and faced his God, Which must always come to pass. He hoped his shoes were shinning, Just as brightly as his brass.
"Step forward now, Officer, How shall I deal with you? Have you always turned the other cheek To my church have you been true?"
The officer squared his shoulder and said, "No, Lord, I guess I aint, Because those of us who carry badges can't always be a saint.
I've had to work most Sundays, And at times my talk was rough, And sometimes I've been violent Because the streets are tough.
But I never took a penny That wasn't mine to keep.. Though I worked a lot of overtime, when the bills got too steep.
And I never passed a cry for help Though at times I shook with fear. And sometimes, God forgive me, I've wept an unmanly tear.
I know I don't deserve a place among the people here. They never wanted me around except to calm their fear.
If you've a place for me here, Lord, it needn't be so grand. I never expected or had too much, But if you don't...I'll understand.
There was silence all around the throne, where the saints often trod. As the officer waited quietly for the judgment of his God.
"Step forward now, Officer. You've borne your burdens well. Come walk a beat on heaven's streets, You've done your time in hell"
