Clem Long was my Great-Grandfather. I know very little about him except that he was the father of my Grandmother, and although there is a marriage license dated August 4, 1914, for him and my great grandmother (Maime Bailey) they never married and he later married Hattie P Wardon on July 3, 1915.

Clem Long was my grandfather, my father was Loman Long, who at the time of Clems death was 15 months old. All Dad ever told me was his name and that he was an honorable officer that was killed in the line of duty.

Clem Long was my great grandfather. My great grandmother was Mamie Bailey, but he married her cousin instead, so we never knew him, just that he was killed in the line of duty. His daughter, Georgia was my grandmother, and we have a large and wonderful family as a result of his relationship with my great grandmother.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the 93rd anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered.

Rest In Peace.

Growing up I always heard the story of how my Great Uncle Clem was killed during a bar fight. I just recently started searching to find out more. My maternal grandfather was Clems younger brother. I am proud of my Great Uncle even though I never met or got to know him.
