Reflections for Officer Timothy B. Howe

To Officer Timothy Howe and all his loved ones:

On this the eleventh anniversary of your tragic death, please know that your memory is honored and revered today.

I have had the pleasure of meeting your parents, and I so admire there strength and faith. My heart goes out to all of your family during this time. You all remain in our thoughts and our prayers.

Reading the loving reflections about your beloved Tim gives us some understanding of what a kind and honorable man he was, and what he meant to his family and friends. I don't know if the creators of this web site ever envisioned how many of us would communicate with each other, and with our angels through these reflection pages. But we do and I find such comfort in it.

Tim, you rescued us, saved our possessions, our lives and our families. You are one of the rare heroes among us. You were always there for us in the most traumatic moments of our lives. No matter when we called, we just expected that you would come and do whatever it took to help us, and you always met our expectations. Your selflessness and dedication are awe-inspiring.

This world, this country, your community truly are better places because of you. To have lost you is a great tragedy, an irreplaceable, immeasurable loss for society. We are grateful for and to you, and honor you for all you did for us day in and day out whether you received a word of thanks or praise.

Rest in Peace, Tim. I am humbled by your valor, courage, and dedication.

This reflection is sent with the utmost respect for the distinquished service Tim gave to his community and the citizens of California, and for the supreme sacrifice he and his family made on April 14, 1995.

11 years ago today you were taken.
This is so sad. You still had so much to give and so much of life yet to.experience. How does one ever
recover from this? Sad beyond words.
Time has not diminished your sacrifice.

It's been almost 11 years since you were taken from this life, for your family and those you left behind, at times I would guess, it's like yesterday.

The city of Oakland and especially the school department of that city lost someone who wanted just to protect it and that is not only a crime, but a sin. However, I firmly believe you never stopped patrolling the hallways of Oakland's schools, nor have you ever left the side of those who knew and loved you.

God Bless and Rest in Peace, Brother.

I attended the police academy with Tim and I will always remeber Tim's infectious personality and zeal for life. Unfortunately we did not remain in close contact after our graduation, but I wasn't surprised to hear how Tim had positively touched so many young peoples' lives while working for the Oakland School District. Tim was a dedicated officer and a tremendous person who was one of a kind!

Tim:

I met your parents at my first COPS function this past Saturday. They are such wonderful people and I know they miss you so much. I told them about meeting one of your friends earlier this year and how much he misses you.
I learned that your wedding invitations arrived the day that you were shot. I am so saddened that your life was cut so short and that you didn't have the chance to have the child you wanted so badly.

Rest in peace.

Protecting our freedoms here on the home front makes you a hero, no different than those who have served the armed forces protecting our freedoms in wars abroad only your battle was closer to home.

God Bless You

Yesterday I met one of your best friends, a Sgt. from the San Pablo Police Department. My beloved son was shot and killed in the line of duty this April as an officer with the Pittsburg Police Dept. Your sacrifice is not forgotten and I could tell when your friend told me about you that you will forever be with him. Thank you for your service to your community and your country. Phyllis Loya

Tim,

Your father was my room-mate as Cadets at the KSP Academy before you were born. I see him when I look at your picture. Having talked with your Mom recently, I know how very much you were loved and are missed.
