Reflections for Corporal Robert Whittington Klein

Robbie and I went to work for the State Police together, assigned to the Narcotics Squad, on July 1, 1972. He was a great guy, funny, full of jokes, but serious when it came to work. At 27 years, his hair was gray, and he took some kidding behind that. He loved his wife and kids, talked about them a lot. He was devoted to the State Police. Rest easy, Cookie Monster, and if you run into Ralph Parker there, say hello for us.

I met Robbie Klein when I worked for the Pulaski County Sheriff's Department. He was always known to all of us as "The Cookie Monster" because he loved cookies. Radio Operators at the Sherwood Police Department would bring in cookies for him at night because they respected him and everyone enjoyed his company. I was working as Chief of Police in Shannon Hills, AR when I learned he had been shot by two escaped convicts. Though I had not seen Robbie in about two years I felt as if a close family member had died. His funeral was very hard for everyone. May GOD bless his family and watch over them. We loved you Robbie..Save us a cookie

I was a Little Rock Police officer when I got to know Trooper Klein. He was one of nicest, most professional law enforcement officers you'd ever want to meet. The callous and senseless nature of his death shook me to the core and brought home the truth that the only thing standing between good and evil are brave officers like Robbie Klein who are willing to lay down their lives for me and my family. May God Bless Robbie Klein.
