27 years is too long. You have 4 amazingly adorable, loving, and hilarious grandchildren with a 5th on the way. You would be so proud. We love you and carry on your memory everyday. Keep watching over us

As yet another anniversary of your death is upon us I reiterate my reflection from last year and say that your law enforcement family will always remember. Rest in peace always.

Officer Calabrese responded to a car accident that I was involved in on Rt 73 in 1992. I was a a young, nursing student, and I was terrified. My car was totaled. Officer Calabrese was so kind to me. I didn’t want to go to the hospital, and lived less than a mile away. He drove me home and came into the house with me and spoke to my mother. When my case came to court he testified that that intersection should have a traffic light. I’ll never forget his kindness or willingness to go above and beyond. I was heart broken when I heard he’d been killed and left a young family.

Nancy and family, I just drove to Florida and back from NJ. I passed numerous signs of names of police officers killed in the line of duty up and down interstate 95. I googled those names to read the sad stories and reflect as my heart was hardened. It has been 25 years since the passing of your wonderful husband and it made me Google 6/12/94. That date will never be forgotten to the true townspeople of Winslow and the write up doesn't give justice to his heroic mans sacrifice. He was the father of two wonderful children, and I can say that the memories have touched me personally. You and your two children have been close to my family and every year, whether it be softball, golf, or just driving through your old development, you all have touched me personally, especially #212. Working with, and being side by side with him has truly blessed me, your husband would have been so proud, beyond words of this young officer and the family he has. And not to take away anything from your daughter, she is so very special and also raising and brand new family that Danny would never stop have stopped bragging about til this day forward. I could only wish healing hearts and his memories last in Winslow over the years and for peace to all law enforcement families over the world who have paid the ultimate sacrifice. God Speed Calabrese Family!#95

Dan, you were a great police officer but so much more. A father, coach, husband and friend. Watching you coach while my son played on the other team, you taught sportsmanship and humility. It's been a long time since I've seen Nancy, and the kids but so proud to hear Danny has followed in your footsteps. Please know many people think of you often and all you left behind. Prayers are still with Nancy, Laura and Danny

Dan,

You are ever present in my heart and our kids' too!. You would be so proud of Danny and Laura. I promised to you that terrible day that I would give all I had to make sure they grew up to be wonderful adults. They certainly did! God blessed us with a son for Danny to carry on your name and he is a beauty. He will be told what a great man his Pop Pop was. Miss you always.

To fully appreciate the heroes of the present, we must recognize our heroes of the past. Your heroism and service is honored today, the 18th anniversary year of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered. Rest In Peace

I pray for solace for all those that love and remember you for I know both the pain and pride are forever.

I have been gone from Winslow TWP. for some years now but I will always remember the super work the police department did there. Knowing Dan from seeing him on patrol and talking to him on occasions he was a great officer and human being. To all of the officers of Winslow I salute you all. God bless and take care of my town I will be back there after I retire.

Officer Calabrese,

Even though I was to young to get to know you when you paid the ultimate sacrifice, you will always be a hero to me and everyone who knew you. Even though you are gone, you will never be forgotten. Since you have been gone, There have been challenge coins made with your name and badge number on it to remind us all of the hero that you were. Since the day I got the coin, not once have i left the house with out it. I carry it everywhere with me. Hopefully one day when I become a LEO, i will still carry it with me to know you will be watching down. I know you must be honored to be watching down over Danny, now wearing the same uniform as you once did. You will always be deeply missed.

I never got the chance to met you but I think of you often. From pictures I've seen and stories I've heard I feel like I know you. Your son seems to be just like you. Everytime he goes to work I cant help but think of the dangers he has to face. Please watch over him as I pray for his safety to come home each night. I'm very sorry this happened to you and your family.
Rest in Peace- With Love

I was a baby cop in the area when this cop fell. It turned out to be a really bad year in this area, but this will always be my first, therefore this is when I was first struck by the thought/image of a cop in my area killed in this way.
Maybe we all go through this, but to me, it was a big part of what made me decide early on that I was going to stay prepared for the dangers of this job...14 years later I teach others how to survive the violence that comes with the job.
The other day I ran across the son of this officer. He is a cop, and I clearly saw from our brief encounter, a damn good one. Sharp Kid.
Patrolman Daniel Calabrese Jr. planted many seeds in life, and in death, that continue to grow today. There is no greater memorial.--JB

I was browsing through an old magazine from October of 1994 the other day while I was at the laundromat. There was an article in it about OJ Simpson and domestic violence. You were mentioned becasuse you died the same day as Nicole and Ron Goldman. You also died as a result of domestic violence. May you rest in peace and thank you for you service.
