Leave a Reflection

Reflections for Captain Danny Lee Gray

I was 9 years old growing up in Beaumont, Texas when your life ended. I visit this web site daily, and saw your memorial, read your story and your son's entry. So close to home even though I now live in Missouri I will always be a Texan. I travel to Beaumont often to see my parents and I will think of you on my future visits to the Golden Triangle. Rest easy....

I was four years old when my father was killed in the line of duty in 1974. His memory is kept alive in newspaper articles all over Texas especially Orange, Texas. As recent as June of 2004, which marked the 30th year of Danny's death, an article was written in the paper reminding people about my dad's life and service to the citizens of Texas. I miss him tremendously, but as I now have only my family, Danny's spirit continues to guide me each day. The day he died he was accepted in the FBI academy and I have followed in his footsteps and I am now a Federal officer. We can't bring our loved ones back, but we can live our lives in a way that will make them and our Heavenly Father very proud.

Sincerely,

Stephen Gray
