Reflections for Patrol Officer Jonah Hernandez
You murder was untimely, disgusting, and undeserved. You had so much more to do in life, and that got ruined by one person so fast. I hope you’re happy in heaven, watching over your brothers and sisters. Your departmeny will take amazing care of your family. Rest easy in your new loving home brother… your mission is complete❤️

Rest in peace brother, we have the watch from here. I pray your sacrifice will not be in vain.
I watched this video as part of a training scenario and it had a profound impact on me and is something I will never forget.
Lord, I ask that you bless those who mourn the tragic death of Officer Hernandez. Please give them the comfort of your love that they may face each new day with hope and the certainty that nothing can destroy all the good he gave. May their memories become joyful, their days enriched with friendship, and their lives encircled by your love. Amen

The true measure of a person
is not found in the
might of their arm,
their wealth
or their power –
it is found in the strength
of their character.
There is no greater testimony to
ones character, than ones
willingness to sacrifice all,
in the noble quest of
providing protection to all
whom they serve.

We know from the Holy Scriptures that Peace Officers have a sacred task to enforce the laws of the land to protect the innocent and punish the guilty:
"For the policeman [Peace Officer] does not frighten people who are doing right; but those doing evil will always fear him [her]. So, if you don't want to be afraid, keep the laws and you will get along well. The policeman [Peace Officer] is sent by God to help you. But if you are doing something wrong, of course you should be afraid, for he [she] will have you punished. He [She] is sent by God for that very purpose. Obey the laws, then, for two reasons: first, to keep from being punished, and second, just because you know you should." [Romans 13: 3-5 TLB]

Your selfless service to your community inspires us all, and your sacrifice reminds us to be ever vigilant against the dangers around us. Your killer should not have been allowed to walk the streets.
You will not be forgotten and the impact you left upon the people you served will live on long beyond your time here on earth.
RIP brother, we have the watch from here.

I have watched thousands of body camera over my young life. All deaths in the line of duty are heart wrenching but this one is one that I will never ever get out of my mind. I am headed to the police academy in July in my state. I want to be like Officer Jonah. He was there to help and de escalate yet was bludgeoned to death by an evil and sadistic monster. Officer Jonah was a very good looking man and served with honor and distinction. Taken way too early. Rest in Power. I have prayed daily often more than once for his wife and children and the hero Samaritan. My fervent wish is that they all are able to heal with time and cherish the memories of this journey called life.

This is a very tragic loss and my sincere sympathies to the family and co-workers of Officer Jonah Hernandez. It is a reminder that our law enforcement officers fight a battle every day, and some unfortunately pay the ultimate price.
Officer Hernandez was clearly a cop's cop, a man who took on adversaries without hesitation. Even the way he positioned a small flashlight on his lapel speaks volumes to his preparation and commitment to the job. Men like him are difficult to replace.
Officer Jonah Hernandez is an American hero, and he will not be forgotten.

"Somebody killed a policeman today,
And a part of America died.
A piece of our country he swore to protect
Will be buried with him at his side.
The suspect who shot him will stand up in court,
With counsel demanding his rights,
While a young widowed mother must work for her kids
And spend alone many long nights.
The beat that he walked was a battlefield, too,
Just as if he'd gone off to war.
Though the flag of our nation won't fly at half mast,
To his name they will add a gold star.
Yes, somebody killed a policeman today,
It happened in your town or mine.
While we slept in comfort behind our locked doors,
A cop put his life on the line.
Now, his ghost walks a beat on a dark city street,
And he stands at each new rookie's side.
He answered the call and gave us his all,
And a part of America died."
RIP too close to home ...........
