Lord God of unfailing love, to those families in our beloved nation, the United States of America, who are suffering in the wake of the loss of a law enforcement family member, help us to provide support. Allow us to be their rock and fortress in a time of immense pain and uncertainty. Help us to keep them safe and nourished in their time of grief, suffering beside them as we move toward healing and reconciliation. Lord God, in Your compassionate mercy, hear my prayer. In Christ Jesus, Your beloved Son, and by His authority, I pray. Amen.

There's only one field of law enforcement that's receiving less support and less recognition than a city police officer or sheriff, and that's the Correctional Officer. Unglamorous, dangerous, and highly unpredictable, the CO's profession puts our best men and women in the line of fire every day, probably as much as any police officer, maybe moreso. May God truly bless this young man (and his family), who obviously tried to help society in the best way he could, only to be killed for it, regardless of how it happened. RIP young man, we didn't know you personally, but we know of your sacrifices and thank you for them.
