Officer Leo, thank you for the time you put in. We all wish it could have been a long, safe and fruitful career. All it took was one vile creature to destroy so much in the blink of an eye.

I pray for all those who will now keep you in their hearts and minds so that you are never truly be gone.

Dear Justin:

Thank you for your service and dedication to our sacred oath. It breaks my heart yet again, to write yet another reflection to a brother who gave all. Someday, all these cop haters and malcontents are going to realize just how much blue does for them.

Law and order, protect and serve. No “I” in any of those words, but a whole lot of sacrifice, dedication and compassion. Justin, I have sons older than you and I can’t imagine the sorrow and the pain your family is experiencing. But I’m certain they, like us, your fellow brothers in blue, are proud of you. “We few, we happy few, we band of brothers,” shall live on in your memory.

I believe that when you walked through the Gates of Heaven, St. Peter said to you, “Welcome Home, Justin”. Thankfully the vermin that did this will never again hurt anyone else. “For the candle of the wicked shall be put out forever”. Rest in peace, bro. We have the watch. May Almighty God bless you, your family, our beloved blue, and God bless the United States of America. Amen

I never read of an officer's death that it does not stir deep emotions. We owe a debt of gratitude to Officer Justin Leo which cannot be repaid. No words are sufficient to convey our regrets for his death. We pray that his family and friends will remember him as a brave man who "stood in the gap" between the good citizens and those who bring the curse of evil. May we--and they--remember him for all time.
