Leave a Reflection

Reflections for Police Officer Gary Lee Michael, Jr.

Gary came through the Central Missouri Police Academy and graduated in Spring 2016 to pursue his dream. As the Academy "Mom", I couldn't have been more proud of Gary had he been my own son. I get to know each of the cadets on a personal level and it was Gary's dream job when he got hired by Clinton PD. His smile would light up a room and our hearts break that he was taken from us is a violent, cowardly manner. Gary fought hard and and can rest easy now that his killer is in custody. I will miss him terribly and ask that God watch over all my "Academy Kids" and all those who serve to protect us from evil.

How many times have we seen officers survive tours of duty overseas and then return home to begin working as a police officer; only to become the victim of domestic criminals? They served their Country honorably and they still had a desire to serve their community honorably. That is laudable. Now, one person's total selfish disregard for life has cost another officer their life. Everyone will suffer because of this one criminal. I know they will catch him. Justice is a cold comfort to his family and friends but Justice will be served. God bless everyone involved.
