Reflections for Trooper Christopher G. Skinner

May God welcome you into Paradise with open arms.

New York mourns the loss of another State Trooper who left us just too soon. My thoughts and prayers are with his family and the New York State Police at this time. I read every day in the news papers about police officers losing their lives. Another New York State Trooper has lost his or her life in the line of duty. He leaves his children and fiance behind along with his parents. I am he will get a funeral with full police honors. Every police funeral I have seen on televsion brings out police officers by the dozens along with bagpipers leading the procession. I know he will be missed and his name will be added to the fallen police officers monument next May in Washington and in Albany.

I received word of this around 1 PM from a Trooper. Then more calls, texts, etc started coming in. I was so happy when I heard the suspect had been caught. I am still trying to wrap my mind around the fact that he admitted to intentionally hitting this hero. I watch the press conference and still can't understand why a person could do this intentional act.

RIP Trooper Skinner. You, your family, and coworkers will be in my thoughts and prayers. Genesee valley C.O.P.S. will be here for your family both blood and blue.

For Trooper Christopher Skinner:

The law-officer on patrol is on the most dangerous battlefield - a US highway. Tens of thousands die each year and many more are injured. Law-officers are not excluded from this cavalcade of carnage. The hit & run driver is apart from all others as his/her deed is not only sometimes deadly, but also criminal. We regret that Christopher was the next statistic to be counted as such a casualty.
We pray for Christopher's family, friends, co-workers, and all who care about him. May they be ready to reach-out to each other in the days ahead.
We are thankful for the efforts of all those who responded to Christopher's aid on this dreadful day.
We are proud to render Trooper Christopher Skinner, a soldier-of-the-law, a final salute.
