Reflections for Park Ranger Ronald Van Trussell

Ranger Trussell,
On today, the 50th anniversary of your death I would just like to say thank you for your service and sacrifice for our Country-not just as a Law Enforcement Officer but also when you served with the U.S. Armed Forces. And to your Family and loved ones, I wish to extend my deepest sympathy.

I remember going to school in 1947 with Ron and his sister Ann in a one room school house in western Kansas. There were only 6 children from the area ranches then. I was sorry when I heard he died in a plane wreak.
His father Van Trussel used to give me the paper ring off of his cigar, when you are 20 miles from town that was a treat for a little kid.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the 41st anniversary year of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered.

Rest In Peace
