To the family and friends of Deputy Clifton Taylor, his fellow deputies, and most especially to Clifton:

We honor your service and you will always be remembered and revered. Rest in Peace.

On behalf of our entire family, I wish to extend our sincerest condolences on the grievous loss you suffered when Clifton was killed in the line of duty. It is obvious he was well-loved by many and well-respected by his peers as reflected in the loving reflections left for him.

May his loved ones continued to be supported by their law enforcement family and other police survivors. Our family grieves with you and for you. My son was fatally shot exactly six years before Clifton experienced the same fate, and we understand the meaning of lives forever altered.

This reflection is sent with the utmost respect for the years of service Clifton l gave to his community and the citizens of Texas, and the supreme sacrifice he and his family made on April 23, 2011.

Cliff~ I canNOT believe its already been 4months since you were taken from our lives. I know Im not alone when I say I think about you, and your sacrafice often. Some days are harder then others, some days taking calls that resemble the one that ended your life overwhelms me, leaving me with a sick feeling in my stomach. But I know your up there, watching down on James' and the rest of Patrol. Doing what you can to keep them, and us safe. I imagine you still making fun of certain people, and playing jokes on us from Heaven. James and I were driving home the other day and they played Go Rest High on That Mountain, it brought tears to my eyes, and then a smile, because I know your up there enjoying it!
xoxo!

I come to the ODMP often to remember my late fiance Dennis. Every time I come here it breaks my heart to know that yet another officer has fallen and that yet another family has to live their lives without the officer they loved. My heart goes out to everyone who knew and loved Deputy Taylor, especially to his fiance. Know that you are not alone in the "journey" that you walk. Should you ever need anything please don't hesitate to contact me. (The Davis Co. Sheriff's Office in Iowa will always know how to reach me. I can also be found on Face Book.) You will be in my thoughts.

From reading the reflections left for Clifton, he sounds like he was a great man with a beautiful spirit. Those of you who knew him in life were so blessed to have been able to share in it. I hope that you will all continue to find a way to celebrate and remember Clifton's life and the MAN that he was. Remember that Clifton's life was about so much more than the way he died. Clifton will continue to live on as long as we continue to remember him.

Deputy Taylor, thank you for helping to make this world a little safer for us all. YOU will not be forgotten. Please continue to watch over all of us as only you can. If you happen to bump into my late fiancee Dennis up there give him a big hug for me and the kids. It's been eight years and he's still very much missed and forever loved.

Wishing you brighter and better days,

Jocelyne :)

For Deputy Sheriff Clifton Taylor:

The law officer arrives at every assignment with the intention of bringing fairness to all. Our calls involve rendering aid, restoring the peace and, if necessary, to effect an arrest. Those who hide and slay an officer arriving to a call are the lowest of cowards. We are saddened by Clifton's fate on this day, but rejoice knowing that other law officers arrived in time to bring a measure of justice in this case.

We pray for Clifton's family, friends, co-workers and all who care about him. May they be ready to reach-out to one another in the days ahead.

We are proud to render a final salute to Deputy Clifton Taylor, a soldier-of-the-law.

It's hard to find words for a tragedy like this, yet the words I think of are; LOVE, SELFLESSNESS, HONOR, RESPECT, and last be not least HERO. Thank you for your service to all of us, thank you for the late nights, the holidays and birthdays you have had to miss, in order for all of us to be safe and enjoy ours. Be at peace and KNOW that God has a special place for you. I pray that your family, friends and fellow officers may find peace again and soon. Rest in peace and thank you for your service, my prayers are with your family and love ones. Your death reminds me of Josh Norris (EOW Jul 5th 2007) who was to be my future son in law. To Officer Taylor's Fiancée, my heart is with you, since having seen the pain my daughter has gone through, she and Josh had gotten engaged on July 4th. As I told her, there is no doubt of his love for you since he asked you out of some may others he could have shared his life. You are still with us and God will send love your way again. Do not dwell on what could have been, but remember the time that you had with him, you will never forget him and that is ok, he was your love. But as you heal and remember him, smile that smile that he loved, laugh since I am sure he loved to hear you laugh and live since he would want you to live.

Below is something sent to my daughter and hopefully helps you.

A LETTER FROM HEAVEN
To my fiance', some things I'd like to say.
But first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from Heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; Here is just eternal love.
Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I am with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through
God picked me up and hugged me and he said,'I welcome you.
It's good to have you back again, you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, They'll be here later on.
I need you here badly, you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.'
God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night the days chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....In the middle of the night.
When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years.
Because you are only human they are bound to bring tears.
But do not be afraid to cry: it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.
I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
If I were to tell you, you would not understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is over.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.
There are many rocky roads ahead of you, and many hills to climb;
But together we can do it by taking one step at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you to;
That as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.
If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain;
Then you can say to God at night...."My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented...that my life was worthwhile.
Knowing as I passed along the way I made somebody smile.
So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low:
Just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.
And when it's time for you to go...from that body to be free.
Remember you're not going...you're coming here to me.
I will always be with you!

It was hard today to say goodbye to a brother, friend, and partner in fighting crime. Deputy Taylor I never realized how much I love you and the guys and gals I work with. We have the streets now, and it is a true honor for me to say I worked alongside of you. I know that you will always be by my side and looking over our fellow brothers and sisters in blue. Thank you for your ultimate sacrifice, I will never forget.
