Reflections for Police Officer Ronald Wilbur Owens, II

Words can in no way even come close to describing this tragedy or the feelings going through your family, friends, co-workers, and entire community. I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for your service not only to the people of Lakewood but to the entire United States. You and your fellow officers will be missed.

What a shocking and horrific tragedy. My thoughts and prayers go out to your family, your friends and your fellow officers. This is all just so terrible beyond words. Losing Officer Owen and his 3 comrades is a loss that their entire police family is feeling today. I will hold your loved ones in my heart as they endure the tough road ahead.

I am in such shock and disbelief from what occurred that I am at a loss for words. When I heard all the sirens and witnessed several dozen police cars from multiple departments racing down my street I knew it was bad..but I never imagined that it was this bad! I visit odmp.org frequently and the idea that I am writing a reflection for 4 officers who were killed less then a minute from where I live is just beyond belief! My prayers go out to the families, friends and law enforcement personnel who have been affected by this tragedy. I personally will never forget this, and every time I see a Lakewood police car I will always be reminded.

Peace be with you my brother, God has called you home. We will never understand the Lord's plans for us and why he would take us away from our loved one's so soon. But we have to trust in Him and the plans He has for us. I pray for strength and faith for your family as they are grieving over their loss. You will not be forgotten.

Having felt the pain of losing a friend and fellow officer only a few months ago, I sympathize and empathize for those of you left behind that were close to these brave officers. I pray the families and fellow officers will know that their loved ones are not and will not be forgotten and that all may find peace in this time of pain. One day all of our tears will be wiped away. In the meantime, our lives and communities are safer because of special people like Officer Owen. Your watch is over now, brother. Rest in peace.
