Rest in Peace

September 29, 2009

I had the opportunity to meet and work with Deputy Etheridge while he was a recruit in the academy. Our family has lost to great brother and he will not be forgotten. Prayers for his wife, daughter, and family run deeply with emotion and sadness.
"Our brother in Arms has fallen, but only long enough to rise above us all to be with his father in heaven. To continue his plight and oath to "Protect and Serve" as he will be bestowed with the heavenly honor of: Angel." Rest in peace brother.

Working with Brian was a pleasure. He was respectful, courteous, and well liked. The impact of losing you will be felt by many. I pray that the Lord will bring your family strength through these times and in time I pray for peace in knowing that you are now in the hands of God.

St. Michael, Heaven's glorious commissioner of Police, who once so neatly and successfully cleared God’s premises of all its undesirables, look with kindly and professional eye on your earthly force.

Give us cool heads, stout hearts, hard punches, an uncanny flair for investigation and wise judgment.

Make us the terror of burglars, the friend of children and law-abiding citizens, kind to strangers, polite to bores, strict with law-breakers and impervious to temptations....

You know, St. Michael, from your own experiences with the devil that the policeman’s lot on earth is not always a happy one; but your sense of duty that so pleased God, you’re hard knocks that so surprised the devil, and your angelic self-control give us inspiration.

And when we lay down our night sticks, enrol us in your Heavenly Force, where we will be as proud to guard the throne of God as we have been to guard the city of men. AMEN
