Reflections for Police Officer John Raymond Hege

It's a sad day when we, as a law enforcement family, lose an officer. It's a tragic and sobering day when we lose four. My condolences to the family of Officer Hege.

Rest in Peace brother, the watch is ours.

I don't know what is worse, the burning pit in my stomach, from the anger, or the breaking of my heart. Although, I didn't know you, Off. Hege, and Sgt's Sakai, Romans &
Dunakin, you are in my thoughts and prayers. I am
so sorry this senseless and violent act has happened to you and your families. God be with you all.

I just read of your passing and wanted to express my sympathy to your family and those at the OPD. Somehow, it's a little easier to believe that your fellow OPD officers who passed before you were waiting for you up in heaven. Look out for the rest of us and those that you left back home. Rest in peace brother.

Officer Hege - Your example, on-duty, and your family's decision to donate your organs are inspiring. I try to imagine myself doing anything near what you (and they) have done ands wonder if I would be as courageous. 30 years in a big city for me...perhaps it was just dumb luck on my part. May God bless you and grant you rest. May your family's act of organ donation help many hurting people change their lives for the better...what a fitting tribute to you. Sleep well, brother.

John Hege was my Varsity Softball coach at Tennyson High school. He also was a good friend and Mentor. He was so out going and loved to joke around. He inspired me to do what makes me happy and to follow my dreams. I will never forget John Hege...his memory will live on forever.
