Reflections for Sergeant Daniel Takashi Sakai

To the Family of Sergeant Sakai,

I am so very sorry to hear of your loss and I cannot imagine the pain you must be suffering at this time. Please know that my thoughts and my prayers are with you at this time. I am not an officer, neither am I affiliated with the any police department, but I highly respect the men and women who choose to protect and defend us in the police force and am deeply saddened to hear when they lose their life in the line of duty.

my sincere condolances,

Suzanne

Dear Sergeant Daniel Sakai... I am so sorry this had to happen to you!!! You didnt deserve this at all!! This is just not fair-- My husband, Bradley Moody, was a Richmond Police Officer and he was killed in the line of duty back in October of 2008. It's been almost six months since he has been gone... and it still hurts like the first day!!! Please give him a hug when you see him--Tell him I miss him!!! I know that you, along with all of the other fallen officers are going to be watching down on us now... please keep us all safe in this crazy world!!!

To Sergeant Daniel Sakai's family...I am so sorry!!! I know what your all going through right now, and I wish that I could take away all of your pain... I am soooooo sorry you have to go through this!!! Just know that you have so many people supporting you! Lean on people for support...

To the family at the Oakland Police Department... I am so very sorry for your loss. I felt horrible for the Richmond police department when we lost Bradley...but I can't imagine what you guys are going through loosing four of your brothers. My heart goes out to you all. Yesterday was truly a very sad day!!!!

Please, if you need anything.. I would love to help--with anything!!!

The funeral line was long, There's an awful lot of cars, Folks came out of the restaurants, They came out of the bars.
The workers at the construction sites All let their hammers drop. Someone asked. "What is this all for?" And they said, "Aw, just a cop."
Some chuckled at the passing cars. Some shed a silent tear Some people said, "It's stupid," "all these dumb policemen here."
"How come they are not out fighting crime?" "Or in a doughnut shop?" Sure is a lot of trouble, For someone who's just a cop."
They blocked the intersections, They blocked the interstate. People yelled and cursed, "Damn, it's gonna make me late!"
"This is really ridiculous!" "They're makin' us all stop!" "It seems they are sure wastin' time, On someone who's just a cop."
Into the cemetery now, The slow procession comes, The woeful Taps are slowly played. There's loud salutes from guns.
The graveyard workers shake their heads "This service is a flop." "There's lots of good words wasted, On someone who's just a cop"
Yeah, just a cop to most folks. Did his duty every day. Trying to protect us, Till they took his life away.
And when he got to heaven, St. Peter put him at the top. An angel asked him, "Who was that?" And he said, "Aw, just a cop."
His Judgment Day:
The officer stood and faced his God, Which must always come to pass. He hoped his shoes were shinning, Just as brightly as his brass.
"Step forward now, Officer, How shall I deal with you? Have you always turned the other cheek To my church have you been true?"
The officer squared his shoulder and said, "No, Lord, I guess I aint, Because those of us who carry badges can't always be a saint.
I've had to work most Sundays, And at times my talk was rough, And sometimes I've been violent Because the streets are tough.
But I never took a penny That wasn't mine to keep.. Though I worked a lot of overtime, when the bills got too steep.
And I never passed a cry for help Though at times I shook with fear. And sometimes, God forgive me, I've wept an unmanly tear.
I know I don't deserve a place among the people here. They never wanted me around except to calm their fear.
If you've a place for me here, Lord, it needn't be so grand. I never expected or had too much, But if you don't...I'll understand.
There was silence all around the throne, where the saints often trod. As the officer waited quietly for the judgment of his God.
"Step forward now, Officer. You've borne your burdens well. Come walk a beat on heaven's streets, You've done your time in hell"

May God bless everyone!!!!!!!!!!!!!

To the family of Sergeant Daniel Sakai,

Do not stand at my grave and weep,
I am not there, I do not sleep.
I am in a thousand winds that blow,
I am the softly falling snow.
I am the gentle showers of rain,
I am the fields of ripening grain.
I am in the morning hush,
I am in the graceful rush
Of beautiful birds in circling flight,
I am the starshine of the night.
I am in the flowers that bloom,
I am in a quiet room.
I am in the birds that sing,
I am in each lovely thing.
Do not stand at my grave and cry,
I am not there. I do not die.

Thank you, his life meant something to me!!! and to many.. he will NEVER be forgotten...

With True Love,
A fellow Officer
