The Gary Police Department has undoubtedly paid a heavy price over the years in its dedication to public safety. The price has just gone up. May God bless your family and hold you close.

Dearest Patrolman Wilcher: You took the dangerous and honorable course of life, and for that you paid the ultimate price. I know you are up there keeping your fellow fallen officers company, and you guys are without a doubt having a great time. Say hi to my Dad for me, I'm sure he'll look out for you up there.

To the Wilcher family: Take comfort in knowing you are far from being alone. There are too many of us out there who know your pain. You will keep going, you will be okay- I'm sure Patrolman Wilcher wouldn't have it any other way.

Benjamin and I were in the same academy class, 05-164. The first few days (of course being the most nerve racking) were made a little easier by Officer Wilcher assisting the Academy in renovating the delapidated pool diving board. Officer Wilcher showed extreme dedication while at the Academy and will be missed. God bless Benjamin, his family, and his brothers and sisters with GPD. Stay safe.

It was almost two years ago that our beloved brother and brother in law was killed in pursuit of a criminal. We are so sorry for your loss. It takes times for the pain to subside, but remember that it will. Cherish the memories. You will never forget the good. He died a hero. That is more than most of us can say. May the criminal meet the same fate as did our beloved's, sentenced to life in prison. We are so thankful that they caught him. God bless you and your family at this impossible time.

It is definitely one of the hardest things to deal with when a good life is taken at such a young age. God bless you for your service no matter how short it may have been. I hope that the duties of your brothers in blue, will keep you looking down and proud. May god be with your family and those you left behind.
