When I met this MAN he was undercover, and I didn't know at the time he was the one that ended up saving my life. And I am truly grateful. To his wife, and children I am sorry for your loss.

Another year has passed the boys are growing so fast. Continue to watch over your family. When we were in Fla. this year saw the place with the funny cars. Made me think of you and the picture we took with all the family piling in.

Saw a heart warming picture of Bailey and Alexander in Football uniforms. I can't believe those two are old enough to be competing against each other on the field. I know you were smiling on the event with pride. What a special day for all of us. Mama Hazel

Today was a special day, not only did Alexander turn "13", they held the dedication for the Sort Training Center. It is now the "Octavio 'Ox' Gonzalez Training Center". The SORT team also got a new vechicle and they have proudly named it "Big Ox". Your work family still misses you a great deal. We love and miss you.

I could not sleep. I started looking at pictures of our HHS Class of '84 - 25 year reunion. And, I remembered how much we missed you that night. I decided to look up this page, only to realize that today is the four year anniversary of your passing. My prayers go out to your wife and sons. May they always feel your love. As for me, I will always remember you as my friend.. that sweet boy who was very protective of me, and called me each night to wish me sweet dreams. You were a kind, gentle soul. We miss you, Tavi. We will always love you. Always.

Octavio, I was getting some paperwork ready for our upcoming class #75 at the academy and kind of dragging my feet then I thought of you. I got refocused and was reminded of the work that we do, as well as the risks associated with it. Your death, although tragic and untimely has changed a lot of cadets/officers lives that never knew you personally here in Tennessee. I continue to share your story with every class, from our friendship at Hialeah High until you were taken from us. You were always a warrior. To Gloria and the boys, Octavio lives in the lives of many officers today that never had a chance to know him personally. He has touched many lives and will continue to do so. May God watch over you.

We offer our heartfelt sympathy to the family, friends and colleagues of Captain Gonzalez and we honor his distinguished service to the cause of justice and peace. Sadly, our nation has lost one of its finest citizens, a community has lost a friend and protector, and a family has lost an example of character and courage who they will love and respect forever.

To the family, friends, and colleagues of Captain Gonzalez, I would like you to know that a lot of people pray for you, and my hope is that their prayers will give you the strength necessary to move on. Just as you were always with him when he walked the beat or patrolled the streets, know that he will always be with you - wherever you may be. In the days to follow, may you be strengthened by the fact that Captain Gonzalez is a man distinguished by exceptional courage and will always be admired for his brave deeds and noble qualities. You, your family, and your sacrifice will never be forgotten.

It was their duty to serve; it is ours to remember.

Ox,
I can't believe it has been 3 years that you have been gone. This is the first time I have been able to write here. It is still difficult. We miss you very much and always will. It seems every where I go, there is someone who knows and misses you too. Any one who new you will never forget you. We may move forward with our lives as hard as it is, but we talk about you daily. The holidays and family gatherings are and I believe will never be the same without you. None of my other uncles aggravate me to scratch there hands or back like Gloria and the rest of my aunts. You always use to tease us saying we look like a bunch of monkeys scratching each others back and playing with each others hair. This is one of the reasons you were called auntavio by your neices. We miss you very much. Luke and I came to your grave today. Gloria, the boys, Ma,Lynn, Lola, Caridad and the guys you worked with all visited you too. I am sure there were other people that we don't know about. I just hope and pray that you know how much we love you. You were taken from us so suddenly. We didn't have a chance to tell you goodbye. At least when you know some one is sick you have the chance to make sure they knew how much they were loved and will be missed. That chance was stolen from us. I think besides you being gone that is the hardest thing that we all have to deal with.
The boys are growing up so fast. Alexander is going into the 7th grade next year. They make me feel old. Please keep watching over them and Gloria. They still have there memories of you. We talk about you to them all the time. We are all doing well as I believe you see. We miss and love you.
