To the family, friends, and officers that knew Dty Sheriff Jones, my thoughts and prayers are with you as you face the trying times ahead of you. Please know your not alone.

Then the rainstorm came, over me
And I felt my spirit break
I had lost all of my, belief you see
And realized my mistake
But time through a prayer, to me
And all around me became still

I need love, love's divine
Please forgive me now I see that I've been blind
Give me love, love is what I need to help me know my name

Through the rainstorm came sanctuary
And I felt my spirit fly
I had found all of my reality
I realize what it takes

'Cause I need love, love's divine
Please forgive me now I see that I've been blind
Give me love, love is what I need to help me know my name

Oh I, don't bet (don't bend), don't break (don't break)
Show me how to live and promise me you won't forsake
'Cause love can help me know my name

Well I try to say there's nothing wrong
But inside I felt me lying all along
But the message here was plain to see
Believe me

'Cause I need love, love's divine
Please forgive me now I see that I've been blind
Give me love, love is what I need to help me know my name

Oh I, don't bet (don't bend), don't break (don't break)
Show me how to live and promise me you won't forsake
'Cause love can help me know my name

Love can help me know my name.

It saddens me to think something as terrible as this has happened in this community. It's hard to believe people can be so heartless as to do something like this. Bill was a wonderful man and an outstanding police officer. He was always real kind to me everytime I would see him out. I will never forget some of the funny things he would say. The last time I saw him was a few months ago at a funeral for one of my dad's friends. I saw him wipe tears from his eyes as he passed by the casket. He was a very kindhearted man. He was talking to my little niece and smiling that one of a kind smile. His presence will live on with all the lives that he touched while on this earth. I hope justice will be served to his killers. They truly are cowards to take someone elses life, so suddenly. Just lean on the Lord and he will help you get through this difficult time. I pray for the family of his friend Mike also. I am sure Bill will be keeping an eye on us all from Heaven. Rest in Peace, Sir.

Bill,

Bill, you have been a smiling friend of the family since I was thirteen. I know their are many that will miss you but, God needs Law Dogs in heaven too...I remember a story my chief told me when he first hired me about a true " Law Dog". He started the story, I was just hired at Crossville PD and we had a shots fired call. Upon arrival Myself and another officer found a man on the front porch of a house shooting. Well, I was new and was relly sure what to do or how to do it. When this man in plain clothes came running through the yard and did a runnibg summersalt over a bush. Then ran quickly aroung the side of the house. Chief stated he looking over at the other officer and said how in the hell was that. The other officer said "Oh, that just Bill Jones". Chief said next thing I knew this Bill Jones guy was running around the side of the house and quickly taking the shooter into custody without further incident. Bill, I heard that story and I thought, that is the kind of Police Officer I want to become. Bam Bam your the man and always will be. The void in Roane County Law will never be filled. We will miss you Brother Bill......

Bill,
You trained me, coached me, gave me a shoulder to cry on, and proved yourself my friend more times than I could ever count. You are as good an officer as I have ever known. May God bless you and keep you in his care. I love you brother.

THIS WAS AN OUT-RIGHT MURDER OF DEPUTY JONES AND MR. BROWN, WHO WAS A FRIEND AND HAD WORKED AS AN OFFICER PRIOR WITH DEPUTY JONES AT ANOTHER AGENCY. WE NEED AS OFFICERS AND FRIENDS TO PRESURE OUR DISTRICT ATTORNIES OFFICE AND STATE OFFICIALS TO SEEK THE DEATH PENALTY ON BOTH BROTHERS INVOLVED IN THE KILLING OF DEPUTY JONES. IT'S TIME WE SHOW THESE TYPE OF PEOPLE WE ARE NOT GOING TO STAND FOR THIS TYPE OF VIOLENCE AGAINST OFFICERS.

My step-father and Bill were best friends in 1976 when they were in the Army together at Fort Stewart, GA. I was 10 years old. I still remember Bill to be a great man and Soldier. He and his family even invited us to their home in TN. Bill and his family are genuine people that I have always remembered.

My family always looked up to Bill because after the Army he continued to serve his community. Bill was a man of great stature that will truly be missed by those that have come to know him.

Bill thank you for providing a positive impact to a young kid. I will always remember you!

It was an honor to be aquainted with Deputy Bill Jones. I first met him through my family who lives in Rockwood when Deputy Jones was an Officer there. He certainly cared about people and especially those who were close. It was a honor to have met him and our thoughts and prayers are with his family.

I started my areer in Law Enforcement with the Roane County Sheriffs Dept as a Jailor in 1991. Thats when i first met Bill Jones, and you had to instantlt like him he was just that type of person. My whole career i had seen Bill in blue. I ran into him at the sheriffs office shortly after he was hired and he just didn't look natural. I said Jones you just don't look right in brown. He replied in that deep deep Jones voice shhhhhhh its just my eyes. I said so you are telling me you are full of. He cut me off before i could finish, and said you better believe it. I am just so much in shock at the loss. Of all the officer in this County you had to be the last one that i thought would ever be killed in the line of duty. I heard the call come over the radio, as soon as i heard Thomas's voice i told my wife i can tell from the tone of his voice its something bad. I so very much wish i had been wrong.
