Another unnecessary death! I think that it should be a law that Law Enforcement should use their speakers or microphones and ask those being pulled over to get out of the vehicle, not have the officers approach the vehicle! I agree with the person grateful citizen who stated that they should not ride alone; my brother was riding alone and he is no longer here with us.

Readers, start being more strick and pay more attention to everything your children see, hear and are taught. They are responsible for the safety of tomorrow. More and more children are growing up without fear of breaking the law of killing/hurting others. Let's do something.

Reality

Imagine how our world would be
If every police officer quit
Turned in their gun, turned in their badge,
Just finally had enough of it.

No respect, no loyalty,
No appreciation of all they do,
They’d give their lives for all of us,
These wonderful officers of “Blue”.

Kicked at, spit on,
Punched, stabbed and shot,
Everyday assaults on officers,
Done…without thinking a second thought!

Our laws are in favor of criminals,
There’s always some loophole in their case,
Out again to commit more crimes and murders
…creates pain, that we, the family and friends
…in time will never erase.

Why should they do it?
Why take the risk?
Why put their life on the line?
Subject their loved ones to endless suffering,
When their precious life is lost while fighting crime.

More murders, more kidnappings, more robberies and rapes,
Just to mention a few,
Please ask yourself how life would be,
If there were NO officers in Blue!

Would you do it? Could you do it?
And for how many…would YOU give it all?
Rewards are a 21 gun salute, a Medal of Honor,
And your name gets added to the Wall.

Think about it. Why are they here?
And why do some hate them so?
Because they enforce the laws that put convicts and murderers
In jail serving time, or on “Death Row”.

All give some and some give all,
It’s a risk they chose to take:
To put their heart and soul in it,
To put their lives at stake.

So, please take a moment,
Please give it deep thought,
Think of what “you can do”…

To help show respect,
To help follow the laws,
So we’d quit losing our Heroes in Blue!

"The Final Inspection"
The policeman stood and faced his God,
Which must always come to pass.
He hoped his shoes were shining.
Just as brightly as his brass.
"Step forward now, policeman.
How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To My church have you been true?"
The policeman squared his shoulders and said,
"No, Lord, I guess I ain't,
Because those of us who carry badges
can't always be a saint.
I've had to work most Sundays,
and at times my talk was rough,
and sometimes I've been violent,
Because the streets are awfully tough.
But I never took a penny,
That wasn't mine to keep....
Though I worked a lot of overtime
When the bills got just too steep.
And I never passed a cry for help,
Though at times I shook with fear.
And sometimes, God forgive me,
I've wept unmanly tears.
I know I don't deserve a place
Among the people here.
They never wanted me around
Except to calm their fear.
If you've a place for me here,
Lord, It needn't be so grand.
I never expected or had too much,
But if you don't.....I'll understand.
There was silence all around the throne
Where the saints had often trod.
As the policeman waited quietly,
For the judgment of his God.
"Step forward now, policeman,
You've borne your burdens well.
Come walk a beat on Heaven's streets,
You've done your time in hell."

THE JUDGEMENT:

The Officer stood and faced his God, Which must always come to pass.
He hoped his shoes were shining, Just as brightly as his brass.

Step forward now, Officer, How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To my church have you been true?

The officer squared his shoulders and said,
No Lord, I guess I aint,
Because those of us who carry badges
Can’t always be a saint.

I’ve had to work most Sundays,
And at times my talk was rough,
And sometimes I’ve been violent
Because the streets are tough.

But I never took a penny, that wasn’t mine to keep.
Though I worked a lot of overtime,
When the bills got to steep.

And I never passed a cry for help
Though at times I shook with fear.
And sometimes, God forgive me,
I’ve wept an unmanly tear.

I know I don’t deserve a place, among the people here.
They never wanted me around
Except to calm their fear.

If you’ve a place for me here, Lord,
It needn’t be so grand.
I never expected or had too much,
But if you don’t….I’ll understand.

There was silence all around the throne,
Where the saints often trod.
As the officer waited quietly
For the judgement of his God.

“Step forward now, Officer.
You’ve born your burdens well.
Come walk a beat on heaven’s streets,
You’ve done your time in hell.”

THE FUNERAL:

The funeral line was long,
There’s an awful lot of cars,
Folks came out of the restaurants,
They came out of the bars.
The workers at the construction sites
All let their hammers drop.
Someone asked. “What is this all for?”
And they said, Aw, just a cop.”

Some chuckled at the passing cars.
Some shed a silent tear
Some people said, “It’s stupid.”
“All these dumb policemen here.”
“How come they not out fighting crime?”
“Sure is a lot of trouble,
For someone who’s just a cop.”

They blocked the intersections,
They blocked the interstate.
People yelled and cursed,
“Damn, it’s gonna make me late!”
“This is really ridiculous!”
“They’re makin’ us all stop!”
“It seems they are sure wastin’ time,
On someone who’s just a cop.”

Into the cemetery now,
The slow procession comes,
The woeful Taps are slowly played.
There’s loud salutes from guns.
The graveyard workers shake their heads
“This service is a flop.”
“There’s lots of good words wasted,
On someone who’s just a cop.”

Yeah, just a cop to most folks.
Did his duty every day.
Trying to protect us,
Till they took his life away.
And when he got to heaven,
Saint Peter put him at the top.
An angel asked him,
“Who was that?”
And he said, “Aw, just a cop.”
