Reflections for Narcotics Investigator Brandon Douglas "Teddy" Breland

i was in complete shock this morning when i visited the odmp site. i saw wiggins police dept...the feeling that ran through me cannot be described. i was part of a contingent of deputies from ccso that were assigned to wiggins after huricane katrina. these officers and department became a part of my career and life in a sense.we have commented many times that we were once wiggins police officers. i called the wiggins police dept to obtain funeral details and spoke with the chief. my heart went out to him as he discussed the situation with me. having lost a friend in the line of duty i had a sense of what he was feeling. the thing that makes this harder and yet easy at the same time was how close the wiggins/ stone county community are. we witnessed this during our stay there...these officers and town were kind, generous and thankful for our help. the cheif shared some of what brandon had been through recently. my prayers go out to his family. i know you have already been through so much.i know that my contact was only for several days, but i know brandon was a good person. he displayed great maturity for such a young person. i will not be able to attend the funeral due to a family obligation that i informed the chief of, but i will be there in spirit with each officer and this community. they truly demonstrated that they are the heart of america. keep up your lives. do not let the cowards that seek to harm us change the way you live. gods speed and brandon and odel will be watching over you all.....sgt. p. spurlock ccso ID#143...or while assisting in wiggins id#R2....florida still has your backs if you need us

I check this site everyday hoping that there will not be another sacrifice... I slammed my hand down on my desk when I saw your names today... You were so young... I'm sorry you couldn't have done what you loved longer. Thank you for the work you did... Thank you for your sacrifice. May God be with your family. Have fun in Heaven and say hi to Pete for me!
