After 5 years of service with you in a neighboring department, only now can I wish that it was only the beginning and not this tragic end.

There are so many words to be said, but sadly, I lack the strength to say them. May your family find the support they need. May your children know of your courageous heroism. May your co-workers know, that our prayers and thoughts are with them as well.

May no one else come to know the great sense of loss many of us have experienced.

Most importantly Shawn, may you rest in peace. God be with you and your family.

1 Thessalonians 4 vs 16-18

For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:

Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: And so shall we ever be with the Lord.

Wherefore comfort one another with these words.

Shawn, You and I had many discussions pertaining tp the coming of our Lord. Upon your entry to his Kingdom, the angels are applauding as the King shouts out " Well done thou great and faithful servant". I will miss you for now but will see you at the great gathering. God Bless You and kepp your whole family !!!

I grew up in New Brighton, Minnesota and my whole family still lives there. Mom calls me and updates me on "my family", my brothers and sisters in a uniform, from Minnesota. I was very saddened to hear of loss of another "family member". There are no words that can be said to ease the pain of your loss, but to quote the movie Ladder 49, we will get back in our patrol cars and continue our watch because it is the only way we know how to honor Officer Silvera. Once again, my condolences. To Offic Silvera: Your watch is done now, you did a tremendous job, let us continue the watch and do your part from above to keep watch over us. Thank you for your honor, loyalty, and courage.

Another senseless loss. I listened to this pursuit and have partners who were involved. Shawn was trying to save innocent people from a crazed criminal. He sacraficed himself for the rest of us, and that will never be forgotten. My hope is that his soul lives on in the heart of his children.
