Leave a Reflection

Reflections for Police Officer Daniel Howard Golden

I saw David on the news last night. I just wanted to put my arms around him and your mom and dad! They will always be a part of the HPD family and everything they have been through breaks my heart.

Daniel, all across the valley people are grieving the loss of Eric Freeman, just as we grieve losing you. David continued your legacy of family, love, and concern when he placed a reflection on Officer Freeman's Memorial Page.

You are thought of by so many, so often. This will not change. You are the star in the sky on even a cloudy night. Now there are two. Help us through the darkness.

Miss you so much. Just as much as ever. Please keep your family and Freeman's family with some peace as we all struggle with the loss of another brother.

Today and tomorrow are going to be hard for a lot of people. It seems like just a few days ago we were gathering to honor and say our final goodbye's to you. My heart goes out to your family as well as Eric's right now. I cant imagine how this has brought back all the shock and pain from 2 years ago to them. I continue to keep them in my prayers. I know they can feel your loving arms around them from above. Please watch over us all, Kelso.

I don't know what to say. Last night and today have been an all too familiar experience. We can't believe this has happened again and we have lost another hero and father and friend. It has to be so hard for your parents and David. They remain in our hearts and prayers and now we have added Eric's family to that list too.

December 15, 2007

We lost another one of your co-workers today. He was shot in the face last night and they pronounced him dead this morning. He was just going on a 10-50. What is this world coming to. It still seems like we just lost you yesterday. It's like a bad dream. We are all just spinning. Lots of guys are doubting if they should continue to do this anymore. I hope your parents are okay, I think of them often. This new killing is probably like rehashing their never ending nightmare. I will pray for you Mr. and Mrs. Golden.

Daniel,

Tonight a fellow officer was shot down. As I pray for him and his family I am reminded of you. I just wanted to let you know that I am thinking of you and your family tonight as well. May God continue to strengthen your family with the blessings of love and pull Officer Freeman through this tonight. You and your family are forever in mine and my families hearts...

God's Loving Grace!

Just wanted to say that your family is in my prayers. My brother, Ronnie H. Dickey Jr., is a Huntsville police officer who is serving in Iraq. He was a member of the 47th Basic Graduating Class. He received the Daniel Golden award. He said of all the awards given that day, the Daniel Golden award is the one he was hoping to receive. I pray for all officers and those troops serving overseas. God Bless You and your family.

Officer Golden,
Today is the two year anniversary of your EOW. We are remembering the sacrifice you and your loved ones were asked to make on August 29, 2005. There are not enough "thank-you's" to appropriately express my gratitude.

Two years later and the pain is still so very real. That image of you on the ground will be with me the rest of my life. Part of the job, some might say, BS. The dirtbag that took your life still sits in the county jail, but his day will come. His lawyer thinks he will be able to spare his life on a "mental" issue. We will see. Local lawyer, couldn't believe that one. I will never talk to or be cordial with him again, unless I'm saying "sign here".

We miss you.

Well it has been 2 years. I was listening to WZYP this morning and heard Mojo talking about what a great friend and hero you were. He played his song for you. You touched so many lives. We will never forget you, Daniel. Keep watching over us all.
