Life with no parole for Juan Alvarez...Tony is mad because he wanted the death penalty ...but he will never be on the streets again..It is ironic that it comes today and on Thursday Nicholas will get your badge number when he graduates.. We will all be there to cheer for him and I know it would have made you proud to see this day. Love you and miss you always ...Mom

Love and miss you so much babe. They say time heals all wounds, well it doesn't. I hurt as much today as I did
the day you were taken.

Sir:
Even though your murderer was convicted today, thank God, it will never ease the pain your loved ones feel in your absence. At least he won't go free, but hopefully justice will prevail and he will get the death pealty.

Your son carries on your heroic decision to serve. I know you will watch over him. I saw your mother at the Sacramento Memorial this year. The pain in her eyes never goes away, but neither does her pride. It's the same with my family. Thank you for your service. God Bless.

The suspect was found guilty today of multiple counts of murder with special circumstances.

Jim, although I never met you, I am sure we ran across each over over the years at the various 'Downed Officer' rides here in LA.

Hi Son..We picked two more kids for scholarships this week.
I think the total is up to 15 now. We will keep doing it till we run out of money. Their essays are amazing. This is the last year for kids who have played for or knew you.Through these scholarships ,we will have helped hundreds..maybe thousands of others, if these kids accomplish their goals to become Doctors, teachers, coaches, police officers, etc. They all have overcome personal problems in their lives , and done lots of community service as well. They all hold you as a role model ..it makes us so very proud to do this in your name.
The teams down the line will remember you..as your flag is there as their good luck charm..Keep looking after us all,
especially Nick...he needs you a lot right now to get through the academy. Keep smiling and sending pennies.
Love you Mom

What a tragic story. We don't know why things like this happen to good people. I believe one day we will know and we'll be reunited with our loved ones. My son was born on this day. 1/26/05. I can't help but think of the passage, the Lord giveth, the Lord taketh away. But I hope when people hear Deputy Sheriff Tutino's name, that's not only what they think about. Think about the man he was and what he stood for. Think about how he led his life, not about the way it ended. May his family find some comfort in knowing that he will always be remembered a as true hero.

Missed you a lot on Mom's Day..went by and left you an angel and some flowers...was with Jill and Tony and had to visit my other kid on Mother's day too. More than anything I miss the calls on your way to work and your smile.Your Dad says "Good Morning " every day as he drinks his coffee from one of those silly golf cups you gave him.. Just visited your plaque in Sacramento and met the families that suffered their loss in 07.. it is so heart breaking.
I have recently been elected to be a trustee for San Diego for the So. Cal. COPS group...so maybe I can help other families get through their tragic losses...Our family all misses you so very much. If you are with my Mom and I think you are, wish her Happy Mom's day and Happy Birthday
for me. Love you as always

I found this on the LA Swat Officer's page and I hope whoever sent it in does not mind that I borrowed it.

You can shed tears that he is gone
or you can smile because he lived
You can close your eyes & pray that he'll come back
or you can open your eyes and see all that he has left
Your heart can be empty because you can't see him
or you can be full of the love you shared
You can turn your back on tomorrow & live yesterday
or you can be happy for tomorrow because of yesterday
You can remember him, only that he is gone
or you can cherish his memory & let it live on.
You can cry & close your mind
Be empty and turn your back
or you can do what He'd want
Smile, open your eyes, love and go on

Hit send by mistake and did not get to finish last reflection.

Here is a little poem you left me one morning on the counter as you left for work,

Where for art thou?
Ere art deep im my bosom,
In every thought,
In all that I move!
Where for art thou?
WITHIN ME!! Love ya, Smakdady.

Well baby that is where you are deep within my heart. I miss you so much.
Happy Valentine's Day.

February 14th 2000 a young man in a tuxedo walked into my work, he handed me some beautiful flowers and then began to recite a poem to me. He then handed me a ring box and said Jim would like to know if you will marry him... and of course I said yes. He got on his cell phone and called you to tell you I had said yes. You always did things in a special way that only you could do.

Maureen Tutino & family of Deputy Sheriff James Tutino,

My heartfelt condolences to you & your family on the 3rd anniversary of your loved ones passing. My heart is not repairable & never did I imagine my life without my husband & my kids without their father. I still can't believe it's true. One thing for sure, I have found (through ODMP & COPS) some of the "best friends I never wanted". I will be thinking of your family in the days & months to come as I know that a new year brings another round of remembrances, such as birthdays, anniversaries, & a long list of things he missed....all over again. Thank you for your thoughts on my husbands reflections & thinking of our family. It is (as you know all too well) greatly appreciated.
Sincerely,
Jo'Nee Cochran
