Denise, I am so glad I found this page. What we have been through is unmentionable, but reading this has helped me to get to know Mike, and it is wonderful that Kendall will have this to reflect upon when she is older and wants to know what her father was like. What a wonderful thing this is. Love and prayers, Kim

Mike, Not a day goes by that I don't wish I could talk to you about the job, hockey, our kids, or life in general. Nothing is the same without you around to inject your unique brand of humor. Thanks for all the good times. (I'll bring pizza.)

Mike,
When we started the academy two years ago we were told that one of us would not make it through a career because of a line of duty injury. As naive as we were, we scoffed at that and thought, "not us", or "that won't happen for a long time if ever". Well it did. I was working in Sinking Spring that night and was frantically calling Matt to see what was going on after they made the announcement. As a Cop you do not want to see a fellow brother or sister killed. You especially do not want to see a friend killed. Mike you were an amazing guy. You were intelligent, caring, resourceful and you cannot forget the one-liners, "wig". Rest in peace Brother and I know that everyday you are looking down upon us, Police Officers everywhere, Class 2002-01 our class and your brother and sister officers in the Reading Police Department keeping us all safe. May your memory live forever.

I want to Thank all of the officers for the outpouring of support that was given to our family. The brotherhood that all police officers share is truly something special.
Not a day goes by that I do not feel the pain of losing my one and only brother. He was/and still is my idol and I always looked up to him. I think about him everyday and tell him to be a guardian angel to all of you trying to keep the streets safe. Please know that I pray everyday for all officers, Medics, EMT's and Firemen. There is something special in all of you.
Once again Thank each and everyone of you who has reflected on this page for my brother.
Be Safe!
Thank you

I first met Mike when I interviewed at FASP for my first job as an EMT. I remember him telling me that he saw something special in me and wanted to give me a shot at proving him right. Well he was a great medic, supervisor and overall great guy. It was an honor and pleasure to work with him. I man of his caliber is rare. He showed himself to be honest, fair, kind, and compassionate, to the public he served, to the people he worked with and the people he called friend. I was honored to have worked with him and known him and will allway be greatful to him for giving me that shot to serve the public. I hope and pray that I can continue to honor him and his memory in the job I do. Denise and Kendall, you will be in my prayers always.

Michael, I never got to work with you since I left Reading PD in "97 but, I know the love you had for working the streets of Reading. I know that you have no regrets for the line of work you chose and that you would want your family and friends to know that too. Rest in Peace my brother.
Denise, I too was shot in the line of duty and in that moment that the bad guys gun went off until I hit the pavement I was at complete peace with everything. I "knew" all that I was concerned with would be alright. I tell you this because I want you to know that Michael truly is at peace and I hope that this will help you heal. We will never forget your sacrifice and loss.

Officer Wise you are a man of of great honor and dignity. You paid the ultimate sacriface for what? To help serve and protect the community of Reading, often complete strangers. You are a hero, a man of courage and most of all a Police Officer that will not be forgotton. I ask of you one favor now and that is that you watch and protect all the other brothers in blue as we serve and protect our beats. I pray that the dear Lord will bless and protect your family. I lived in that area from 97-99 and appericate the wonderful service provided from officers like yourself. You will be code 4 forever now... See ya soon bro

Dear Denise and your little daughter,
I have kept you in my prayers since that horrible and tragic day. My sister, and all of our family, grieve the loss of her husband, Lt. John Finn, who also lost his life in the line of duty on 2/12/03. He left behind two young daughters, ages 21 months and 8 years.
One can only imagine the pain and loneliness that you endure, but know that there are many who love you and will help you carry on through these most difficult days.
Your husband is a hero, a legacy - he gave the ultimate sacrifice. He will live on through your precious daughter. She will give you the strength to persevere.

To the family of Officer Micheal Wise,

We feel your pain, your anger, and your disbelief in your loss. We know the nightmare you are going through. We lost our beloved son-in-law, Mark Sawyers, of the Sterling Hts, MI PD, on the same day in the line of duty.

Even though the journey will be long and hard, it is our prayer for your family that you will somehow find peace. Our 'boys' are now patrolling the streets of heaven together, while watching over us and all their fellow officers.

A Great Man

It didn’t take long after meeting Officer Michael H. Wise II, to know what he stood for and who he was. Mike was a respectable, honorable, kindhearted person and had strong work ethics. He was always ready and willing to help out a fellow officer. No task was too insignificant or too large for Mike. He always gave his best and was thirsty to learn all relating to his profession. Mike was always smiling and often laughing. He was known to some of us in the Vice/COBRA office as “The Amish Guy.”

Michael Wise was a friend to everyone. Sadly, we lost a great man while he was protecting his fellow officers and the citizens of the City of Reading.

Jesus said, “Greater love has no one than this, that one lay down his life for his friends.” (John 15:13)

My deepest heartfelt sympathy goes to Mike’s wife, Denise, the Wise family and his friends. I pray God will grant you all strength in this time of great loss. Until we met in Heaven, I’ll never forget Michael Wise.
