The 123rd Entrant Officer Class from the Kansas City Regional Academy extends its condolences to the family and co-workers. Our instructors always tell us that at any time, in any stop we make in the future things can go terribly wrong. I am sadened to be reminded of this truth by P.O. Fettig's and P.O. Bowen's death. We read the memorial from the web page during class and we want the everyone (family, friend, & co-workers) to know that their sacrifice was not in vain.

God bless.

To the family, fiancé, friends, and colleagues of Officer Fettig the International Association of Women Police extends its sincere and deepest condolences. You all are in our prayers. We know why Jen put on that uniform and went to work every day. Her dedication and professionalism to her department, city, and country was not in vain and will not be forgotten. The coward that took her life is destined for a journey he chose when he fired those deadly bullets. Godspeed, Jen.

Few people outside of the law enforcement community know just how dangerous this job can be. Something as "simple" as a routine traffic stop, or a check on a subject call can turn deadly in a matter of minutes. Those of us who tow that line each time we put on our badge and gun, are always hit very hard by the loss of another brother or sister in blue. It is sad that the senseless act by one human can rob two sets of families, friends, co-workers, and communities of two very special people. It is with great sympathy to those who suffer these losses that I extend the condolence of the Baltimore County Police Department. That you Officers Fettig and Bowen, for the lives that you've touched, and the sacrifice you have made. We are all eternally grateful, and indebted to you for your service. To the families, may God bless you each and every day, and please know, that you do not mourn alone.

Mom and Dad I know sometimes you are afraid for me because of my job. Not many Mom and Dad's have to worry that, "their little girl" might not come home from work one night.

I'm sure people must ask you if you are scared for me. And I'm sure people also ask you if you're proud of me. I know you feel both for me.

Being a Police Officer is no easy task to do what we do. We have to be brave, courageous , and heroes too.

Sometimes I'm patrolling late at night when you are in bed asleep. I'm locking up criminals and keeping drunk drivers off of the street. On occasion, I may get into a fight, or I could respond to a robbery in progress tonight.

Don't worry because when I need strength, courage, and bravery, I think of my "Mommy and Daddy" and all that you two have taught me.

I will always try with earnest to be safe, to protect me and my fellow officers. But if one night something happens, and I don't make it home. Remember that my last thoughts were lovingly of you, Mommy and Daddy; My parents who are the strongest, courageous, and bravest people I know.

Dear Jennifer (Godmother),
I miss you. I am proudly wearing the blue ribbon pin over my heart that mom gave me the day after you died. I even wear it pinned to my p.j.'s at night. I wanted to let you know that Mike Patty gave me one his baseball caps from the Detroit Firearms Training Unit..it's a little big but I'll grow into it. I've gotten lots of hugs from your fellow police officers too, but they'll never replace the hugs & kisses I'll never get again from you. You'll always be my hero.
Sending Lots Of Love With Plenty Of Hugs & Kisses From Your Godson Brendan Christopher Pabst (6 yrs old-mom helped me write this message to you. Please watch over us now)
