There are but two persons who protect the sinful human race from destroying itself. One is God's Holy Spirit. The other is the Peace Officer. Without them, we would all perish at each other's hands.

You were called into this profession and our Lord and Savior has blessed you because:
According to Romans 13.1-5...
God ordains the Peace Officer’s profession.
The Peace Officer is sent by God.
The Peace Officer is vested with God's authority to enforce the law.
A Peace Officer's badge is to be honored by us, because it is honored by God.

You gave the ultimate sacrifice, your life for your fellow man, while serving, defending, and protecting others in your community.

To the family of Patrolman Bryan Verkler and the Mishawaka Police Department, your extended family of Law Enforcement Officers grieves with you during this time. I pray that God will wrap his loving arms around each of you and comfort you during this most difficult time.

To all my brothers and sisters, please remember the fallen officers we have lost. Remember the men and women who died trying to make this world a safer and better place for us all to live in. Please pray for this officer's family and friends as they struggle with this tragedy.
May God be with you every day, please remember, we are a part of the largest family in the world and when one hurts we all hurt.

Though our badges and uniforms may be different, our mission is the same. Rest in peace with our other fallen Brothers and Sisters. We will continue the fight in your honor.

I would like to extend my extreme sympathy to the family of Officer Verkler. I am currently helping to keep the peace in Iraq right now so regretfully I can not attend any memorial services. I wish to say the streets here in Iraq are tuff but not any where near as tuff as the streets every single officer walks each day. God is with him and his family at there time of need. I like to think he is walking the beat in heaven right now watching over all of us still keeping the streets of the entire world safe for all of us.

I would like to give my condolences to Cpl. Roberts and Ptlm. Verkler's Family, friends and fellow Officers.
Everytime I check this web site I feel empty and sad As I know that I'm going to read about another Brother or Sister
who died giving their life to save the life of others.
Today I read about two Brother Officers who were killed by a spineless coward. Even though he took his own life it doesn't help or make sense to his family, friends or his fellow Officers.
If this coward wanted to end his life then so be it, its his choice but to take an Officers life to is just unfair.
For all that are affected by the lose of these fine Officers, words are not enough and the fact that it is eleven days until Christmas makes it that much sadder.
I hope when I check back in a few days I don't read that another Brother or Sister has given the ultimate sacrifice during the Christmas season. I know its impossible that another Officer won't make the ultimate sacrifice but hopefully we won't lose one for the rest of the year and we can enjoy Christmas with our family and friends.
Rest in peace my Brothers and keep watch over the rest of us.

Blessed are the peacemakers..........but how sad this day.
"One thing I know: the only ones among you who will be really happy are those among you who have sought and found a way to serve." Albert Schweitzwer
I did not know Patrolman Verkler, but from what I have read of him, he must have been among those happy few who had found his way to serve. Your community, and our brotherhood of law enforcement, are all lessened today by the loss of this officer. He isn't really gone. He lives on in every officer who steps up to take his place on the thin blue line. He lives on in his family, and in the community he loved enough to give his life to protect.
May the memories of happier times with your officer help to ease the pain of this terrible time. He walks Heaven's beat now, and watches over you still.
He did not lose his life, he gave it in service.
My condolences.

Bryan Verkler
was one of the kindest men that I have ever known, he was always very protective of anyone around him and had such a kind heart that he was always there if anyone were to need him. He talked about how much he enjoyed being a police officer and that he wouldn't trade it for the world. The smile on his face would bring anyone to smile with him and the care in his eyes always showed in every situation. Bryan being killed in the line of duty has taken everyone by storm and he will be greatly missed he was an amazing police officer and died doing the work he loved, it breaks my heart that he is not here with us anymore but he will forever be in my heart,
thoughts and prayers
You are greatly missed...
