I was watching the California Highway Patrol's Active Incident page late last night (June 23rd, Log 4036) and watched as the accident came up "officer involved". I watched it as they said a semi was blocking the officer to protect him from being hit. I watched as unit after unit showed up to help. And I watched hours later when they said it was an 11-44 (fatality). I grieve for Officer Smalls and his department, they lost one of the best. I give my deepest sympathy to the family he left behind, remember not his death, but the heroism he displayed during life. Officer Smalls gave the ultimate sacrifice in a job that a lot of the world all too often takes for granted. God bless you Officer, and may God watch over your family and your department in these tough times. You left us here on earth, to touch the face of heaven.

Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God. Mt 5.9
