Even though you're gone, a hero in the battle fought.

And to your brothers, you all will carry on his fight
To keep us protected throughout all the night.
You'll be in shifts fighting our city's crime
But David will be on duty all of the time.

Dave's still here on the shoulders of the force.
A guardian angel watching over you all.
Whether in a car, on a bike or a horse...
He was dispatched to the Lord's beckoning call.

These were not orders that could be ignored
Or ones that David just didn't receive.
To the Lord, upon angel's wings, David soared
And in the force ... we still do believe.

To the Ezernack Family: I will never forget David. He was always so full of life. When I heard about this I was at work less than a mile or so away. We could hear all of the sirens but weren't sure of the reason. When I got the call about Jay and David I was in absolute disbelief. I want you all to know, especially the Ezernack family, that David meant alot to so many people. He had an impact on everyone he met. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.

And to Dave...thanks for teaching me to blow the duck call. You'll definitely get your limit hunting and fishing up there! I'll never forget the time we spent together. Our friendship meant and still means a lot to me. I will miss you always, never forget you, and you will always have a special place in my heart. We love you David...

At the beginning of every shift I supervise, myself and the other officers on shift dedicate the day to the memory of a fallen officer. Today, February 25, 2003 we dedicated the shift to the memory of PFC Ezernack and Patrolman Carruth who died on duty five days ago.

When one law enforcement officer falls, we all stumble for a while, but we will carry on.

PFC Ezernack's & Patrolman Carruth's sacrifice will never be forgotten.
