To Patrolman Burton James LeBlanc, and his loved ones:

It has been seven years since your tragic death, please know that your memory is honored and revered today. As I read the memorials of our fallen officers, I am always struck by the senselessness of all these losses of our valiant heroes, but your tragic story saddened me so much.
My heart goes out to your family. They are in my thoughts and prayers.

Patrolman LeBlanc, you rescued us, saved our possessions, our lives and our families. You are one of the rare heroes among us. You were always there for us in the most traumatic moments of our lives. No matter when we called, we just expected that you would come and do whatever it took to help us, and you always met our expectations. Your selflessness and dedication are awe-inspiring.

This world, this country, your community truly are better places because of you. To have lost you is a great tragedy, an irreplaceable, immeasurable loss for society. We are grateful for and to you, and honor you for all you did for us day in and day out whether you received a word of thanks or praise.

Rest in Peace, Patrolman LeBlanc.

This reflection is sent with the utmost respect for the distinquished service that Patrolman LeBlanc gave to his community and the citizens of Louisiana, and for the supreme sacrifice he and his family made on February 5, 2000. I also have to salute the continued service his brother and cousin still give in safeguarding their communities after this horrific crime and sacrifice.
May your beloved's spirit continue to soar and his memory continue to inspire.

Seven years have passed and you have not been forgotten nor will that ever be the case as you are a true hero and heroes never die. Keep watch over your loved ones and protect them from harm. Also, continue to keep watch over those still out on patrol guarding the Thin Blue Line. You will never be forgotten.

I will never forget that fateful night on Feb. 5, 2000 when you were taken from us. I know that you are up there watching over us all. You were a good friend. I enjoy remembering the rides we made together on our motorcycles and how much fun we had. You are truely missed and will never be forgotten.

Well Burt is has been six years but only seems like yesterday. You are truly missed by all, I have had the pleasure of your friendship back in Highschool, and continued into our jobs as Officers, and it continues today through my friendship with your Godchild Emilie, she was only three when you left this world and she will soon be turning nine. She was talking about you this past weekend to her friend Katy, and my son Peyton. I took them to the Angles memorial in Jennings and as she ran her fingers accross your name , I remembered the last time that we spoke , I had told you that I had seen Emilie and that she was so spoiled, well that was nothing comparied to how she is now. She will never forget you as long as I am in her life, may you continue your watch over your Family and friends, until we meet again in Valhala. Donnie

I stayed in Hathaway as a german exchange student during this year. At the time of the incidence, me and my friends passed the house, where it happende, by car. I saw a bleeding guy siiting on the ground in front of the house, holding a gun in his hands. He pointed the gun in our direction, because police men were standing between the street and the garden. I was so scared and shocked, that I can't remember, if I heard the gun fire. I feel with the colleagues and family members, who had to lose James LeBlanc. I will never forget what happened...

Almost four years now, and each Feb. 5 it hits home and hurts as if the incident just happened. I know you are at peace. I know you, Kenny, Chris and Flip are having a grand old time. I miss your friendship and I miss seeing that handsome face when I make my visits to Jennings. You will not be forgotten my friend.
