Dan is my brother. I love him very much. Mine and my brothers mother died not knowing his senseless murder had been solved. I thank the person that came forward to let us know. God bless you. To now hear the wall that has my brothers name so graciously engraved upon it may be defaced makes me so sad. My brother was a wonderful man. He was kind and caring. I remember him braiding my hair when I was just a little girl. We called him Sonny. I love you Sonny. Your sister Peggy

O me! O life! of the questions of these recurring,
Of the endless trains of the faithless, of cities fill'd with the foolish,
Of myself forever reproaching myself, (for who more foolish than I,
and who more faithless?)
Of eyes that vainly crave the light, of the objects mean, of the
struggle ever renew'd,
Of the poor results of all, of the plodding and sordid crowds I see
around me,
Of the empty and useless years of the rest, with the rest me intertwined,
The question, O me! so sad, recurring--What good amid these, O me, O life?

Answer.
That you are here--that life exists and identity,
That the powerful play goes on, and you may contribute a verse.

- Walt Whitman

Investigator Tindle you contributed a verse and made a difference! Semper Fi!

I was stationed at MCAS Yuma at the time of SSGT Tindles Death. I worked at the time in base Legal Office as a Court Reporter. It was Dan Tindle that motivated me to re enlist and join the CID. I proudly represented the Marine Corps CID for three additional years before my discharge. I knew Dan slightly from his visits to our office with Investigative Information. He inspired me and to this very day, I recall the day he was killed and have the newspaper articles from that awful time.

I hear about this when I was stationed at MCAS Yuma from 1974 till I retired in 1981. Was a Criminal Investigator and also was chosen to be a Special Agent for NIS while at Yuma. I lived in base housing near the location where the offense took place.

I was the Security Desk Sergeant that evening in 1968. My watch was over at midnight as I recall. I remember vividly Sgt. Tindle coming by and notifying me that he was securing for the evening but would be on call. I was probably the last person to see him before his death. I was discharged in early 1969. No arrests had been made at that time. I remember mostly everyone knew who was responsible for the murder but the lack of evidence prevented indictment at my discharge. It was my understanding the crime remained unsolved.

This afternoon was I was on the Internet and I just searched out of curiosity, MCAS Yuma and Sgt Tindle and found that his murder had been solved. It moves me greatly that his deaths no longer a mystery. I only wish that it could have been solved years ago.

Sergeant Tindle as a fine man and credit to his family and the Marine Corps.

Shame it took so long for the truth to come out. Never knew Daniel personally. Only share the bond of a brother Marine and fellow Investigator. Only heard good things of Daniel from the "old timers". May he always rest in peace.
