Reflections for Trooper George Tillman Radford

Thinking of your and all of your loved ones today. I know that your memory is carried in the hearts by all those that love your dearly. They will never let you beforgotten. True heroes never die. Continue to keep watch over all of your loved ones, protect them from harm. You will never be forgotten.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the twenty-first anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered.

I was shocked to read that after 4 juries found your murderer guilty, a fifth jury acquitted him. What a travesty of justice, and what an ordeal for your family that they had to endure five trials.

Cassie, I am sure that your father is proud that you continue his legacy of protecting and serving. I know that the hurt of losing a beloved never goes away...both the pain and the pride are forever. I pray for solace for all those who loved him.

Rest In Peace.

As I signed onto my shift yesterday I had tears in my eyes but so much pride in my heart! I am a Law Enforcement Officer but deep down I'm still your little girl who misses you so very much. Not a day goes by that Andrew does not ask me to tell him about his "Papa Geroge". Its the nightly bed time story that's always followed by his sweet voice asking you to keep watch over the two of us.
Daddy, Thank You for loving me and for believing in me. It's because of your kidness yet strong will that I'm who I am today. God will be the Judge of your killer and I know that in time he will face his maker. Each day that I perform my law enforcement duties I do so knowing that you are still alive in me and together we will carry on this tradition.

My Dad My Hero forever you will be.

S C H P - my first true love regarding my childhood dreams of becoming a cop. Perhaps, I thought that one day I would be as USMC/SCHP Israel Brooks (RIP).

I was happy to hear that there was a move to rename a portion of a highway, as well as the Marloboro County SCHP Office in memory of Trooper Radford.

Trooper Radford, may You Rest - In - Peace.

Though I was just a youngster when I first met Radford and heard of his tragic death, I always remember him. He was a great person and great at what he did. He will never be forgotten. He is the reason I pursued a career in law enforcement, and even at my oral interview, I stated that he was the reason I became interested in law enforcement. God bless you Radford and may you rest in piece.
With love...

"The Badge"
He starts his shift each day
To respond to calls unknown.
He drives a marked patrol car.
A police officer he is known.
He's paid by the citizens' taxes
To make it safe on the streets.
But he usually has a second job
'Cause a waitress has his salary beat.
Now he doesn't know a holiday
'Cause he works all year round.
And when Thanksgiving and Christmas finally arrive
At his home he cannot be found.
He's cursed and assaulted often,
The one whos blood runs blue.
He seldom ever gets a thanks,
To some he's just a fool.
His friends are always other cops
'Cause people just don't understand
That underneath his badge and gun,
He's just another man.
He knows there might not be a tomorrow
In this world of drugs and crime.
And he gets so mad at the court system
'Cause the crooks don't get any time.
And each day when he leaves for work,
He prays to God above.
Please bring me home after my shift
So I can see the ones I love.
But tonight he stops a speeding car,
He's alone down this ole' highway.
It's just a little traffic infraction.
He does it everyday.
Well, he walks up to the driver's window,
And his badge is shining bright.
He asked the guy for a driver's license,
When a shot rang through the night.
Yes, the bullet hit its mark,
Striking the officer in the chest.
But the Department's budget didn't buy
Each officer a bullet-proof vest.
So he lay on the ground bleeding.
His blood wasn't blue - His blood was red.
And briefly he thought of his loved ones
'Cause in a moment the officer was dead.
In the news they told the story
Of how this officer had died.
And some who listened cared less,
But those who loved him cried.
Well, they buried him in uniform
With his badge pinned on his chest.
He even had his revolver,
He died doing his best.

Daddy,

My legacy will not be determined by the stripes upon my sleeve but by the manner in which I perform my Law Enforcement duties and the content of my character.

I wear my uniform with great pride just as you did. Thank you for all that you taught me and for watching over me each day.

Untill we meet again,
Cassie
