The First & The Last

The first to sense the hostility of a suspect,
The first to react to protect his master,
The first to enter where danger lurks,
The first to detect the hidden intruder.
The first to take action against violence.
The first to sense his master’s joy.
The first to know his master’s sorrow or fear.
The first to give his life in defense of his master.
The last to be forgotten by those who work with others like him.
They know him as a “Partner”, not just an animal.

Wow, what an impressive pedigree of service. K9 Rivan was obviously born and bred to be the HERO he was... it was in his DNA! His duty, actions and ultimate sacrifice on that fateful day (no doubt) saved several human lives. We mourn his loss along with your agency.

To lose one of our own is never acceptable, to lose a K9 CO is even harder.

May CO Fields recover swiftly from her ordeal and be surrounded by the comfort knowing her partner, CO K9 Rivan is being loved on and comforted by our Father God.

CO Rivan will be sorely missed and never forgotten. His Service and dedication to the DOC will be honored forever.

CO Rivan, you came from a proud lineage of public service, showing the world how strong you were.
God had a special place in his heart when creating you; He simply reversed his name and gave it to you, "Dog, his name will be, and this one is special to me and my creations.." and
Dog came into being with courage and honor - they were created just for you and me. Faithful dedication these animals have forever given to us since.
Sir, you are missed and forever loved. Thank you for all you have done, and for the Love, Valor, Commitment and Sacrifice you gave.

K9 Rivan, This is outrageous. To lose your life at the hands of evildoers, even as your partner put himself in mortal danger trying to save one, is beyond comprehension. Maybe one day my anger (and that of others) will be quelled when we understand why God allowed this heinous, vicious crime. May God walk with your partner, team and family, pouring out comfort and rest. May they absorb His peace and put all thoughts in His hands. No doubt, your K9 family joyfully greeted you as your crossed the Rainbow Bridge! Now you can run, rest and play in eternal peace.
